Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I'm new to the forum and couldn't find a previous post. Is Dragon's Dogma worth buying? I liked the demo and it's quite cheap to buy now. Is it better on PS3 or the 360?

YES! The gameplay is spectacular, but the story is....written by capcom >_>;; though there are some hidden elements to it that you'de have to peek around for like in Dark Souls.
The system, however, is up to you, I suppose. I played it on the PS3, personally.

Yeah play it on Hard. You will die, a lot. And most enemies will 1-shot you until you get decent equipment, but it's still fun. Think of it as Dark Souls.

Re: Dragon's Dogma
Its not too easy without hard mode, but it can fluctuate between too easy and OH MY GOD! difficulty at times. Also it doesnt get any harder on NG+ which is odd.

Re: Dragon's Dogma
Dough is right here the difficulty can fluctuate in the beginning. The main thing that makes Dragon's Dogma a totally different game from Dark Souls is that you can over level yourself and steam roll the game without much fear of death =). I've yet to try Hard Mode yet because my son has been sick, so I'm only speaking on the original difficulty.
On a side note, does anybody know if the NG+ scaling has changed (meaning it actually does now lol) with the Hard Mode?

Re: Dragon's Dogma
Is there a way to lock-on to enemies that I'm somehow missing? I accidentally skipped a portion of the training quests, so I kinda feel like I've just been thrust into the game and I don't know how to play it properly. Kinda silly that it lets you skip the tutorials on your first playthrough.

Nope you cant lock on Plastic. Its really annoying and will kill you at times but you just have to live with it. The magical archer is the only exception, it can lock on to enemies.

Re: Dragon's Dogma
I think I'm actually starting to get used to it now. I went with a Fighter for my initial class. Not really sure where I want to take it from there yet. I'd love to know what I missed in that tutorial. According to the interwebs it had something to do with targeting and group tactics. Which would probably be nice because my pawns seem to be suffering from some kind of mental disability.
I'm having fun with it aside from that though. It took a little getting used to after playing so much Dark Souls, and I guess Skyrim is my only other really recent frame of reference for contemporary action RPG's. I don't really see how it can be equated to Dark Souls. The only real similarities I'm seeing are that it's an ARPG and you create your character. I like the day/night cycle a lot. The darkness effects when you're out in the wilderness at night feel really isolating and cool. The combat has actually been challenging at times too.
It's also awesome that you can pick up random people, throw them over your shoulder, and run away with them. I can't stop doing it. It's almost as good as punching guard's horses in the face and then running away in Oblivion.

Re: Dragon's Dogma
Much like Dark souls, when you finish, certain items like equipment are passed on to your next playthrough, NG+. Though once you have proper armor the only real challenge is the Ur-Dragon and some enemies in the Post-Dragon phase.
I have not played DD for a long time and this "Hard mode" is not known to me, I hope it adds some new challenges. The only thing i hate about it is the fact that if you didnt buy any DLCs, you're only playing half of what you paid for, to an extent.
