I think there are some clues about the game hidden here, as it only makes sense.
It's possible that time could play a strong part in DS2, because when you watch the swinging pendant for a minute or 2, you can see 'echoes' of it lagging slightly behind. Now, it could just be to tease the DS community after all the searching for the pendant's use, but I think there's something more important behind it. Maybe it's both.
After, a second look, I noticed that about 12 seconds in, when the pendant swings to the left, there seems to be a wind or an earthquake that pushes it further on. Important, or just for flavour?
