Is Sunlight Blade and GMB bad?

So in the township today I ran into a mage. He had the crown of dusk and, not one, but TWO tin crystallization catalysts, instinctively I applied GMB and sunlight blade. After I killed him with a riposte he sent me a message saying I'm dishonourable for using GMB, even though he was spamming dark bead like he had two nukes in each hand.

So my question is was/am I right to do this to this guy and other mages or should I hold back on the Sunlight Blade if I use GMB?

He let you get 2 buffs off? What you did was fine. He should have had ample time to BS you while you buffed the second time. People just get mad when they lose. Ignore the hatemail.

Everybody has their own opinion on how the game is played. If you try to please all of them, you'll end up fatrolling in 0-poise armor with dual occult+2 scimitars.

E.G., if DoughGuy above thought it would be a jolly idea to BS me while I buffed, I'd chug my way to victory. Then we'd both send each other hate mail. I think BS'ing while somebody buffs is wrong, and he probably thinks using estus in a duel is wrong. Different opinions.

I personally think you should be allowed one buff, the other is up to the other player. But yeah he was kinda slow on the uptake, he was probably equipping his second TCC. Quick question would that quarter the castings you have?

That's one of the best ones yet. Not just a spell spammer, but a 2-fisted spell spammer, and he says GMB is cheap. That is genuinely funny. Is there any chance he was tongue-in-cheek about it?

I've seen a lot of Dark Magic hate threads on the forum, but haven't read any or posted in them, because I feel that it's not OP. But the sheer amount of them has to mean that a large portion of the Dark Souls community might feel that Dark Magic is OP... so someone who spams Dark Magic, probably thinking he's OP, then complains that you used the appropriate counter, is just hilarious!

Over the last few days I've started a new toon, to use the Greataxe exclusively, and I've been playing in human form the whole time. I've been invaded by a few people who just spam Dark Magic, and they're terrible. When they come up against someone who knows how to dodge their spam (mid rolling, too) they have no idea what to do.

nothing wrong with slb and gmb. i am surprised he let you buff twice(which btw the crown is a buff too) i only let my opponent buff once and if you try to buff again your *** is gonna go splat.

Nothing wrong with Buffs or GMB. If someone doesn't like them because they are "OP" or "tryhard", they can just turtle until they wear off.

They are legitimate spells in the game. There is nothing wrong with them.

GMB don't leave home with out it. When I invade I drop it immediately and then apply DMB, or SLB on my +15 Zwei.

As a Dark Bead spammer, I can honestly say that that guy is a sore loser. I'm guessing the poor fool was trying so hard to be cool with 2 TCC's that he forgot his weapon at home.

The only bad thing about buffs is that they take time to place.

its the classic mage hunter set up, of course their gonna whine, its purpose built to kill them. every build has a counter, mages are just used to dodging as their counter and so are upset when they discover they have another stronger counter against them.

IMO, I'll allow my opponent a buff in a duel, but in an invasion I will bs if one tries to gain an advantage over me like that. OT, the Dark Bead spammer thought that GMB was cheap? That's actually pretty funny.

On topic, however..No, there's nothing wrong with what you did. Your enemy was just an idiot.

I pissed a guy off by using Wog twice cause he backed himself in to a corner and wouldn't put his damn shield down. It wasn't even a Wog that killed him, and yet he went ahead and called me a "wog noob"

I killed a caster only by bow headshosts, because he tried to cast Pursuers over and over again. Like a stuck NPC.
Got hate mail afterwards saying I'm a coward for not letting him cast his spell.

I was trying to say, that no matter what you do, there will always be someone who will frown upon it and tell you it's wrong, unfair, bad, dishonourable, overpowered etc.

As long as it is in the game, you are free to use it and you should use it, no matter what others tell you.

I myself, have very hard time fighting spear users. A good spear users can rip my build apart, because they are it's weakness. But It's fair to use spears, even if I lose against them. Even if everybody playing the game started using spears and I would lose everytime, I have no right to tell them what to use, nor say it's op, unfair etc. There are players that can eat spear users for breakfast, just because I can't doesn't mean that spear is OP, it means I suck at fighting them and should do something about it.

Clearly you need to send hatemail calling them a Spear tryhard. That'll convince them that they are being completely unfair by making a good build and taking advantage of what the game has to offer.
