Black and white seems a pretty good way to describe it. To me on my cruddy TV it looks like a light glow with no colour.

I think phantoms look less colourful while at the Kiln. Its like they're not as dark, and the glow is less shiny. You can actually make out colours of your armor there, unlike other places where you're all dark and glowing in red/blue.
