The R2 of it is enough to use it over the normal rapier. Shame the build i'm on isn't an int or i would be using it, but i'll have to settle for the estoc

That's its downside. It needs INT. No INT, no Velka's.

But in all fairness while not as cool as Velka's, the Estoc is a good replacement. I use it on my left hand for my PGS build so that i have a little bit of range.

Estoc is a fine weapon, which why I'm not arguing with its place on the list. It's basically a longsword in rapier form - very versatile weapon.

i dunno man. a rapier with an r2 you can basically roll stab doesn't sound to good to me.. i think its not worth it but i'll edit it in.

scythes a dex scaling halberd huh... is there a speed difference?

i gotta throw the suggestions rant said in, but like.. the blacksmith hammer or pickaxe?

The Scythe and the Gargoyle halberd have movesets that can keep enemies at range, and the swipe attack on the 2nd R1 can kill BS fishers.

And the Halberd can be roll BSed, because everyone assumes it's the only counter, like what they do to spears.

theyre the same moveset from what i know. whats the speed difference and range from scythe to halberd?

The Scythe and Garoyle halberd have different movesets from the normal halberd

smith hammer since it has infinite stunlock. i know you can toggle out but not everyone can toggle out ffast enough so you get two hits in at least.

That one, the Giant Blacksmith Hammer and the Reinforced Club can infinite stunlock. The Pickaxe seems good, but can't break 40 poise, even 2 handed.

Longsword!

The only reason to go Longsword over a SSS is if going crystal since you can buy them.

axe: butcherknife for str builds, only downside is its weight. gargoyle tail axe for dex builds. both have awesome reach and stunlock/guardbreak capability.

It's OP because it does more damage than falcion, does bleed and scales very well with dex but the only disadvantage is it's range which i've countered by having an estoc in my left hand.

Did i meantion it's OP?

The SSS requires four more points in STR and DEX, if you are doing a low level elemental build, (SL50 or lower), those four points out of VIT or END are not worth the measly 8 difference in AR (for Chaos +5).

also the sss is double the weight.

the painted guardian loses its r2 tho. that r2 is worthless... but the r1s powerfull.

i still prefer the falchion since it can be buffed and has a useable r2.

The R2 is very good... I use it and I always catch em with a good few hits with it. But I'll have to admit when first started using I had a hard time using the R2 but it does get better with time

What about the barbed sword? Good bleed build up, the R2 dead angles okay, and you can buff it. It has a slightly lower AR, but its minimal.

Darkmoon bow?

Darkhand should be in there for sure, but as a fist wep? Are you gonna put shields in, or just had no where else to put it? Claws aren't a bad fist weapon I guess.

PGS is not OP. It's just very, very good! Its abysmal range is what makes it balanced. And its R2 is great: good on enemy wake-up from crit hit, or to take advantage of the extra range the attack gives you, or just to parry bait people who'd try and punish you for using it!

My favorite off-hand weapon to complement the PGS is the Notched Whip, since it can't be parried. The PGS's only weakness is its vulnerability to getting parried, due to its total lack of range. So having the whip to punish parry spammers is crucial! Also, it bleeds, which complements the PGS's bleed. And it has decent range and speed. The whip's only drawback, in the offhand, is that it leaves you open to backstabs if you're not careful. But the PGS is great for canceling backstabs.

It's a match made in heaven!

The Gold Tracer is OP, though. Range, damage, speed, and outrageous bleed capabilities. Can't be buffed? Doesn't need to. I don't use it, it's boring, too OP.

Also, Velka's is a great weapon too.
