Where Do you think dark souls 2 will take place?

From the way I see it, It could only take place in Balder, Carim, Astora, Zena, Barinique or the eastern lands. It couldn't take place in the great swamp for obvious reasons.

So I ask you. Where do you think it will take place? I heard some talk that it will be in Carim, and those fat guy weapons do look like Shotels so I will go with that.

Why couldn't it be some, as so far, unmentioned land?

That seems more like a From thing.

What of it takes place many years after dark souls and lordran is just so changed that we don't recognize it and maybe some places right out side it's walls?

That place in the trailer video sure looks like Anor Londo. Granted, the characters are looking at it from a distance, but it would be kind of strange if Lordran wasn't in the game at all.

I don't think it looks "completely" different. It could be the same place viewed from another angle. Also, it's not unusual to make visual tweaks to familiar places/characters in a sequel.

I dont think its anor londo guys. It is the same color sure, but it uses a different archetectial type.

Also, the game is confirmed not to take place in lordran.

How is it strange? DaS doesn't take place in Boletaria either.
Lordran is not in the game, can't believe people are still speculating that it might be. Besides, it's the best possible decision they could've made, why would anyone want to play in the same place again?
New game, new places, new experience.

It looks nothing like Anor Londo... Anor Londos cathedral is barely above the height of its walls, and the highest point in there is Duke's Archives. Which is obviously not the building shown in the trailer.

Dark Souls II is a direct sequel to Dark Souls, not a "spiritual successor" as Dark Souls was to Demon's Souls. Thus it will take place in the same game world with the same backstory, lore, etc. That doesn't mean Lordran will be in the game, but Boletaria isn't a proper analogy either. I wrote what I did based on the assumption that the place shown in the trailer is Anor Londo, but now that I take a closer look (I hadn't looked at it since the day it came out) I agree that it does look different, most notably the shape of the central tower. So it's probably somewhere else. But I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to speculate, and I think it's also possible for Lordran to have a place in the new game without being the main setting. For example, ENB's speculation that Dark Souls II could be a pilgrimage journey from some other land to Lordran, seems like a plausible scenario.

Sure, but remember what Shibuya said:
"The name of the world will be key to the story. We will reveal it eventually, but not in the first announcement. If Lordran was to be an area in a world called, say, Earth, the setting of this game will be somewhere completely different. The two places won’t necessarily interact directly with each other, but, from a visual concept [standpoint] at least, it will be within the same world."

They are not only saying the two kingdoms will not interact with each other, but that the location will be somewhere entirely different. So if it was about a journey to Lordran, you would have to go through several kingdoms to get there. Yet they say it takes place in one location.
