New DkS 2 pics from Facebook - Return of Gwyn?

The Dark Souls Facebook page just threw up these images:








Looks like Gwyn is making another appearance...

Very nice find. Plus yes that looks a lot like Gwyn!

My guess is that that's actually Gwyn's uncle, All father Loyd.

This should be added to chizz's page, nice find!

Fair point about Allfather Loyd. Could be a little nod toward the new location being Thorolund?

Awesome stuff, either the first born or all father lloyd if it were my guess, most likely the firstborn.

Kinda makes me happy if that turns out to be truth, i was a bit taken aback when people were suggesting playin as the firstborn.. Souls doesn't suit the 'set main character' vibe.. though then again no action rpg does really.

My evaluation & interpretation:

He doesn't look like anything because we don't see his face clearly. We do see a crown that looks EXACTLY like Gwyn's and teal robes, which are so far unique to Gwyn in the Dark Souls universe.

Well remember now they said that the ocean would play a big part in dark souls 2. Fighting Vikings seems pretty expected.

he is wearing a rounded off helmet and his robes don't have those ridiculously large shoulder pads this guy ISN'T wearing anything like gwyn aside form maybe the color tone >.>

Rounded helmet? No. No, not at all. Look at the picture.

EDIT: Wait. You do realize these are unrelated sets of pictures, right? You didn't see the guy with a 4-pointed crown in teal robes and say "Yep, that's clearly the same guy as the one in a completely different chainmail outfit with a shield and axe"? Right?

OH WAIT i totally see an old skinny guy with a crown i was looking at the wrong pic but hes too frail to be the beefy king Gwyn

The crown is visible in the first image.

Indeed, which is why I think it might be Lloyd.

The robes and build of the character reflect a cleric or holy character, so I too am now leaning toward Gwyn, and possibly Thorolund playing a part.

it definitely won't be gwyn. As far as the lore goes We don't know where he went, but it was most likely not outside of lordran. Hence if dark souls 2 is in the past, he wouldn't be there, and if it's in the future he's rotting in the kiln.

Needless to say, gwyn's known family lloyd and the firstborn are more likely to be the people we see in the images.

We can't say that with certainty.

We have no idea where Dark Souls 2 starts; we only know where the majority of the gameplay isn't (Lordran).

I think the new directors logically would want to stay away from Miyazaki's focal points from dark souls so that they can stamp their own image and identity onto the game, but since it's in the same universe, I think it's much more likely that they will use lesser characters from lordran's lore to bring this sequel into relevance, rather than reuse a character already done (literally) to death.

I know it's possible they might reuse gwyn, i'm just saying it's both unlikely and would be a mistake to reuse him.

Gwyn is a sort of ultimate god in Lordran, no? It wouldn't be suprising to hear about him. We can perhaps even see him departing to Link the Fire.

That shouldn't hurt the lore, right?

It would be actually strange if there wasn't a word about him in DkS 2.

Looks more like 4 Kings to me...
