I haven't actually seen any of his movie reviews though so I can't weigh in on those, I just know he should never do a Let's Play again.

EDIT: I forgot that whole ending which might seem offensive to NC fans, while they hated the video they were using hyperbole to be comedic. It's a whole MST3k deal.

Yeah they got a lot of negative criticism about that one in particular. It was the fact that he didn't even understand the concept of what a Let's Play was that led to a lot of disappointment when there was only a half hour video of the game.

I've honestly never heard of him until now. I must say, I watched the whole thing. And one of his earlier videos. I liked it.

I actually have to say that I'm surprised so many people watch NC here. :shock:
I know he is a big name but the last time I was on a forum site, no one even knew who he was.

I watched his lets play of barts nightmare and oh my goodness, most annoying thing ever! I've seen one before though I think it was his very first lets play and i remember it was quite good. This was not.

Lets plays in general are terrible imo .

Youtube Let's Plays in general are pretty bad, but the Something Awful ones are really good.

There was a time i watched quite a few let's players . But after a while i just realized that this whole thing is one big act .

They scream when something scary happens, they try to make wity commentary and they never shut up .

Perhaps its just not my cup of tea but it think lets plays are awfull

That's youtube Let's Play, not the SA version. The SA version is focusing more so on the games, it's a walkthrough with commentary. They have quality standards and will not advertise bad let's plays that people post on their forums.

They often know every single bit about the game before playing it, having beaten it multiple times coming with trivia, knowledge about the developers and behind the scenes of the games, the series in general.

Sometimes they even do multiple commentaries in other languages.

They put a lot of work into their Let's Plays actually.

And they don't just blindly play a game badly while screaming, they hate those people.

Didnt mean to generalize . Of course there are good Lets Plays out there, even on Youtube .
They just are not my cup of tea .

What would i rather do ?
Watch someone play a Video Game while talking over it or play it myself ?

And if i want to see if a Game is good or not i could read the countless Reviews on the Internet or watch a Gameplay video . But commentary ? Nah

Their intent is typically to play games people have probably missed out on, such as playing lesser known games to get people interested in it. It's also another way to advertise a game, I bought the Metal Gear Solid HD Edition because of Chip Cheezum's Let's Play, he showed off the game and what fun it could be while also talking about the changes, etc. It's to be informative. Often game reviewers are pretty terrible at their jobs, so sometimes I turn to a let's play and watch a few episodes to see if it seems like a game I'd want to play, because then I can see actual gameplay and see how it is structured.

There are just enough terrible lets plays as there are terrible reviews .
I would read about 5 Reviews and see if they all came to a samey conclousion about the Game to make sure they're legit .

It's all good Tolvo you don't need to tell me how good Let's Plays are, i understand why you like it i just dont like the concept of it

I'm not sure why you dislike the idea so much.

If there is an old game that would cost you hundreds of dollars to buy, while having to go from place to place just searching for it to no avail. Wouldn't you want to watch a let's play so you can at least experience it? Or if there is a game which is not being translated into your language, wouldn't you want to watch someone play it while translating it so you can enjoy it too?

If there was a Game like that, probably .

Now i suck at articulating my Points so i put it simply .
I hate it when People think their audience is stupid .
I watched lets plays on Youtube and they would always scream and freak out at scary stuff and repeat the same jokes over and over again to humor the audience .
And how do you play Video Games ? Do you constantly talk or do you shut up ?
It just feels wrong .


Now, i understand that the People you mentioned are different. But my best guess is that i'm just tired of this Idea .

Gameplay Videos without Commentary are what i would rather watch .
