Well, there is the Stray Demon, whose name kind of implies...strayness. But then there is also the nearly identical "Asylum Demon" whose name is a bit more ambiguous.

Also, its important to note that the Undead Asylum is not in Lordran, since the chosen maketh pilgrimage there, traveling by...raven

Perhaps the asylum demon has haunted the place for so long, it has become associated with it.

Stray might have not been seen as much, so they just "Yup, a stray"

A demon residing on the roof might be easier to see.
