20 February, 6:00 PM EST (GMT -5:00), Playstation Meeting 2013 - (most likely) Playstation 4 Announcement

We are so close guys, I can feel it, they are gonna announce it...

Just think, the first post with the playstation meeting said only "See the Future", a video showing the logos moving around, and the text "Be the first to know", when clicked the text opened a link to the playstation meeting 2013 page.

Then, Sony started uploading "Playstation Evolution" videos to their YouTube channel while highlighting them in the Playstation Blog, they started with the PS1, then the PS2, PS3, Portable Gaming, and finally (a couple hours ago) Games. PLUS they linked ALL THESE videos in the Playstation Meeting 2013 website. This like they are telling the history of Playstation, and the fact they made a video about PS3 too, makes me think they consider PS3 "history" because something new is going to replace it, thus PS4!

Also latest info points up that the PS4 will have retro-compatibility through Cloud Gaming of Gaikai, the company of Cloud Gaming that Sony bought last year.

UPDATE: Latest rumors point up that Battlefield 4 will be shown
today along with the PS4 announcement, to support this rumor, earlier this
morning the director of GameStop confirmed Battlefield 4 existed, and
that he already saw it and was amazed, and that he can't wait until they
show it to us.

Very, very excited to see what they're going to announce. Hopefully they'll dispel some nasty rumors.

As a certified (like new) Sony fanboy I have been excited for this meeting for a good chunk of time.

I just have to justify the expense somehow, particularly since I just had to buy a new ps3 only a few months ago

It better be a ps4 announcement so I can save myself from buying a ps3 right now. If it's ps4, I'll wait to convert from Xbox.

Might as well save up the money for this. I doubt a new xbox will be released till the end of this year. Seems like the smart thing to do.

I really want to get one so I can play Dark Souls 2 with more of the people from this forum if it's on the new gen.

The seventh-generation of consoles these games are on have certainly lasted longer than past gens. We are in what the eighth-generation and from what I know only the Wii-U and other portable devices are out. Seems like the best time for a home console to appear.

Touch screen? Oh, oh. I hate touch screens. Those things have gotten on my nerves so many times. But, at least it seems it is only for convenient controls around the Home Screen.

They implementation in games can be awesome and add new experiences, I talk from personal experience as I've played LitteBigPlanet 2 with the Cross Controller DLC Pack that lets you use your Vita with the PS3, it provided new awesome mechanics.

I'll second the notion that touchscreen can be used well. I'm also a Vita owner and have seen some good uses. Motion controls too (as a supplement)

I just facepalmed when Blizzard got on the stage and announced Diablo III for PS4.

Lol. Big developer move but yeah, not a major wave. They teased me with "we promise to keep moving toward the true potential of the Vita" combined with "but we're not telling you jack."

They didn't say a price... I'm pretty sure they didn't want to charge as much this time around. Although judging by the specs they sort-of-mentioned, it sounds expensive.
