My research on Poise

so i've been doing some research on poise and i came up with this

poise levels:


20 poise - you can take one hit form a normal dagger without staggering however its a really weak poise level so it won't do much good

40 - you can take a straight sword hit withouth staggering but not much else
and no stagger from arrows

60 - dagger will almost never stagger you but a straight sword may stagger you if they hit you 3 times one after another

80 - you can take up to a full hit form a normal greatsword withouth stagegr but another one and you wil stagger

100 - you can take up to two hits from a normal greatsword without stagger

120 - you can take one hit form a Uber greatsword without stagger however another hit will stagger you




this is what i got from my research im still doing research on how much Poise damage the weapons do so i will do that one later



so what do you think about it? do you agree? or do you disagree? feel free to post your comments guys

When you go and do research on weapons I'd love to see how magic and poise work. So for example how much poise damage does a spell do and do spells like CMW and DMB effect poise damage.

Just some thoughts. If you need help with the research I'd be glad to help out when I have a bit of free time.

I think Blaine might have got even more specific numbers than these that he mentioned in a thread back in the old forum..

I'm guessing these are hits using the weapons one handed?

i was thinking of doing the spell poise damage after i did the weapon poise damage or should i put them all together in one thread?

nope they're all two handed except the uber greatswords although im gonna have to look into he one handed too

oh thats good to know that poise actually does something against the two handed swings, think im just a little bit under 80 requirement on my toons... hmmm

I'd get it all out at once. You could start a page or add to a page on the wiki explaining all of this.

Also I was reading another page talking about the poise threshold between 55 and 56. Not sure if it was bs or not but I think you should try and refine the numbers a bit (assuming that you tested at exactly 20, then 40 ect...) So test at 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 then 5 and so on. I'm sure it would seem a bit of a waste but knowing exactly where the numbers stand would be great.

i did the research going up 20 poise each level never though about doing 1,2,3

I don't blame you for doing it that way dude. You could probably be safe going up by 5's.

I think Poise is a vital and little covered topic. There have been some contributions about it on other sites, but there is still a lot to cover. If you make this collaboration happen, we can create a Wiki page for it to record your progress and then eventually link it on the Dark Souls University section.

apparently its 76 poise to not get stunned by an ultra greatsword once, try 76 poise.

Don't know how accurate either is. From my experience, 76 seems to be right, though. Either way, you can take these into account in your research!

(I know I offered to help in another thread... But I'm still trying to do my speed run! I'm afraid I won't do anything else until get that done.)
