Painted World, Anor Londo, Forest, Ash Lake are all awesome.
I also like the place where Solaire is standing when you first meet him. It's pretty cool to just look out over the world from there.

how is it that the areas i absolutely hated the most on my first playthrough turn out to be my most favorite one?!

Undead Parish for getting me hooked on co-op.
The top of Sens fortress for the feeling of getting up from one of the most annoying areas in the game, although I have to admit that the very bottom with the titanite Demons is very appealing as well for some reason.
I really like the Demon ruins as well and it almost saddens me that the Taurus Demons don't respawn; pulling three at the same time and battling them is one of the more interesting PvE-experiences of the game.
BoC for having probably the only part of the game that resembles a gauntlet. I wish there were more.

New Londo Ruins, I love being down in a flooded ruin deep underground with only a little bit of light coming down into the ruins showing the beauty of the wet stone in the ruins.
The Catacombs, I like the beauty of the catacombs, with the light and the waterfall coming down into it giving you a serene feeling before you delve into the pits of the catacombs.
The Tomb of the Giants, I love coming here and looking out over the cliffs and gazing at the lava at Izalith and the horizon from where you can see Ash Lake at. The place has everything that I could want because of how dark it is but at the same time you can still see the epic beauty of Ash Lake and the mesmerizing lava streams of Izalith.
