Hmm... where to start? Well, from what I've read from item descriptions and ENB videos, i have started to speculate that Manus has some sort of connection with Dusk. Manus, as we know, was once human, a primordial one, the original one. Manus seemed to be an esteemed mage in life (hence his mastery over dark sorceries), and used his very own power to make them. Manus has an affinity to humanity, his soul is basically raw humanity. That is why his sorceries have a look of humanity (especially Pursuers). But i will get back to that later.
However, his power seemed to consume him, his humanity went out of control. His influence spread beyond his grave in the chasm of the abyss, to the kingdom of Oolacile. Home of Dusk, but the question is, why was Manus so close to Oolacile in the first place? Well, if he IS the pygmy, he could have moved to Oolacile to find peace there after the war with the dragons, and pursue his sorceries. However, the people of Oolacile disliked Manus, possibly fearing him, everyone, except Dusk.
When you first meet Dusk, she has a very kind and friendly personality. She could have met Manus when he was a human, and gave him the Pendent, as a sign of peace and friendship. Manus then treasured this pendent, thinking that Dusk was the only person who cared about him, possibly, even falling in love with her. Again, more about his feelings for her later. Time passed, and Manus was slowly becoming insane, delving deeper into his sorceries, creating more dangerous spells as time went on. Soon his over-flowing humanity consumed him, he went wild, and soon vanished into the abyss. without his precious pendent, which broke in two (which you and Chester find in the present). Somehow though, Manus remembered Dusk, and then 'kidnapped' her, to try and confess his love for her, but Dusk, naturally, was scared ****less, and failed to understand him. That would explain why Dusk is seemingly unharmed when rescued the 2nd time.
Now, when you read the item description for 'Pursuers', is begins to make sense (to me anyway);
"Sorcery of Manus, Father of the Abyss. Grant a fleeting will to the Dark of humanity, and volley the result.
The will feels envy, or perhaps love, and despite the inevitable
trite and tragic ending, the will sees no alternative, and is driven
madly towards its target."
This description confirms, for me, that Manus had feelings for Dusk, and the 'Pursuers' really spells out the story for Manus and Dusk. All the dark sorceries also sort of tell Manus' slow decent into madness, they all tell of a an Oolacile sorcerer on the brink of madness, who discovered these. This could either be Manus, or one of the sorcerers in the township. I'm not sure.
Well, that's it, i apologize for the wall of text. This is speculation with some facts, so some of it, if not all of it, will probably be incorrect. Like to know what you think though.
