I find Demon's Souls appeals more to me. True, I started with Dark Souls, and was and will always be my one true love, but Demon's Souls just.. there was something about it. It felt more raw, more punishing, more... dominant. And oyu guys know how I love being dominat--... err... ANYWAYS. The feeling of satisfaction I get from Dark Souls is tripled on Demon's Souls. I prefer.. well.. everything! The areas, the weapons, those beautiful armors, those amazing boss fights... the game just left me in awe one moment after another. Deep down, I'll always know Dark Souls gave me the skills, but Demon's Souls gives me the chills.

Atmosphere was just amazing in some places in demons. Feeling constipated just play latria part 2 the atmosphere was so tense on that level. Liked the world/character tendency aspect and my cresent killij, but overall I prefer dark souls, pvpwise its much better.

I don't think there's a "better" game, on all other threads like these poeple always go with their favourite, not the "better" game.

Re: Favorite Souls game and why?
Demon's Souls has a nostalgia for me that will never be replaced. I remember the first time I was invaded in a souls game, and it was in Demon's Souls. I do not remember the first time I was invaded in Dark Souls.
However, my fav is Dark Souls here's why:
-More build options.
-Invading has been expanded on.
-Mages are more viable in pvp without being completely op.
-The level design is superior.
-Huge variety of weapons and castings.
-The armor and shield concept has been improved.
-etcetera
Imo, Dark Souls is better than Demon's Souls in almost every way, hence it being my favorite. This is my opinion, I'm not stating the aforementioned reasons for the sake of making comparisons.

Re: Favorite Souls game and why?
I'll keep it simple, because the expanded arguments on all the main points have already been stated in every other similar thread. Demon's wins for two reasons: atmosphere and nostalgia. Dark Souls wins mechanically, but I prefer a tightly crafted thematic experience as opposed to gameplay.
EDIT: I'm sorry, and I don't intend to be confrontational...but...
...really? In this argument even the Dark Souls supporters typically recognize that the open-world style of Dark Souls took away and weakened the level design by a bit.

Ya imo. Thats why I made sure to say I wasn't trying to make a comparison. For instance I like Blighttown over Valley of Defilement. I like Anor Londo over Boletaria, etc. I'm not saying the level design was bad in Demon's Souls, quite the contrary. It's just that if I HAVE to pick per say, It's Dark Souls.
I also love the opened world of DkS. I'll admit I was put off at first by this, but when I got use to it, I never wanted a nexus again. I think the way the worlds connect in Dark Souls is brilliant.
Also, The Tower of Latria. I was scared the first time, after that...it was just a pain and I never enjoyed it.

Re: Favorite Souls game and why?
I prefer Dark Souls. I prefer the open world environment over the Nexus of Demon's Souls. With the Nexus the game felt a bit linear IMO. By that I mean in the end the main point when you enter an area was to get from point A to point B to find the bosses and ultimately the archdemon while Dark Souls can be varied in a lot of ways and isn't so linear level design wise. That's just my opinion. Plus I sped through Demon's Souls rather quickly, though that could be more of gaining experience in Dark Souls before I did play Demon's Souls. Also I dispised Demon's Souls weight limit. It was annoying to deal with, again IMO.

Re: Favorite Souls game and why?
Demon's had better atmosphere, but the world tendency system and farming for upgrades was utter trash, it made it such a pain to actually build and go for necessary items. In DkS if you want a divine weapon at +10 you know where to get the item for it and it doesn't take forever to get the chunks, and the game gives you a slab as loot. In DeS you had to farm for ages and ages if you wanted your stuff fully upgraded.

Re: Favorite Souls game and why?
Dark Souls has much better gameplay.
Demon's Souls has darker levels, lol. It also has a better story in my opinion.
Also, Dark Souls reused some of the Demon's Souls stuff which is fine, but they brought Patches back after stating Dark Souls was going to have a story that's completely diffrent from Demons' Souls for crying out loud.
It's hard to choose. I think Dark Souls is a little better despite the 2nd appearance of Patches. However, the Yellow Monk boss fight in Demon's Souls was an amazing idea.

I never played demon souls online and it definitely has some things that trump dark souls(mood for example), but I have to go with Dark Souls

Re: Favorite Souls game and why?
Dark souls is better for me.
Demons is fun yeah, but I just like dark more. I prefer the open world, addition of poise, pyro, offensive miracles (good ones at least)....
Whenever I play demons as well, you can really tell it's the first one. It's so.. primitive in a way compared to dark souls Its good, but it's not quite Dark Souls. It lacks the same refinement

I wish Dark Souls had a Old Monk-style boss fight. That was epic.

very true.
I'd also love to have back trading boss souls for spells, that was good too

I prefer Dark Souls over Demon's Souls.
The atmosphere in Demon's Souls was without a doubt better but to me the gameplay was much better and I did enjoy the story of Dark Souls much more than Demon's Souls.
