best weapon

It all depends on your playstyle and what you want todo.

PvP for instance is much about one hit then back off and not so much about dealing out a consistent damage, PvE is a mix of both where you might benefit from a faster swing time but still want as much damage as possible per swing.

I have done a lot of analysis on this (spreadsheets, swing time, stamina cost etc) and this is basically a list of weapons that has a high damage per swing and a high dps...

Greatsword of Artorias
Black Knight Great Axe
Stone Greatsword
Murakumo
Great Lord Greatsword
Bastard Sword
Claymore
Dragonslayer spear
Queelags Furysword

Ofcourse since Murakumo is buffable its probably the best one but I was surprised how good the Bastard Sword was.

The Dragon tooth should take an honorary mention, its really low dps due to its long swing time but since its buffable it does a significant amount of damage.

I'm really good at keeping distance and moving in quickly to hit my opponent, and keeping them at bay with my reach. I use DMB Washing Pole in right, with Chaos Ricards Rapier behind it, and will switch to either my lightning uchigatana or Occult Great Scythe after washing buff goes away. I then use Avelyn with lightning bolts and DM talisman in left.

i'd say so but who actually lets it hit? i've only used it to stuff attempts to cast.

For a Strength build I use the Demon Great Axe. It has "S" scaling with sunlight blade at 50 strength you can have over 1000 damage. Its stunlock its pretty fast too.

Time the attack right and its very effective, after your opponent rolls or attacks and misses. Youtube avelyn pvp to witness greatness. Im on my phone or i wouls post it.

ah i can see how heavier weapons/mid rolls could be punished with it. i'll definitely keep that in mind with my str/faith. dont feel like eating crossbow. Any how, my favorite weapons so far are the iaito, sks and bss.

Why do people like the iaito so much? I personally hate thr R2 conpared to uchi/washibg pole.

But yea it is hard to land avelyn on fast opponents with katanas expecially. But still dooable and just the threat of it makes the opponent play different. Some times i can bait attacks that open them up to a blast.

Your info is slightly wrong;

Pike has longer reach than Demon's Spear

But, while the Knife has the highest crit multiplier, the Rapier has the best BS damage.

I've heard something about armor affecting this. I would love to test it. BK and Rapier +15. Backstab both a hard armor and a soft armor person. If you're interested, let me know.

katana +15 no buff

bows and crossbows, I have only been hit by those in 2v1 or more because you are distracted by the other player, shouldn't play with that against an avid washing pole
user on your own, have you seen how long that sword is? you reload and you will
have all that steel coming out the front of your chest fairly easy.

Now every bow-crossbow user is gonna challenge me to duel, we are shifting the thread!

Gol, I think you are complaining about the chosen metaphor more than anything, if you had chosen to
obviate that and capture the essence of his message which makes sense btw, instead of labeling it as
bollocks, I think it would have been a better response.

He obviously knows the difference between a katana and a nuclear weapon and I am sure he knows
it's a game but that doesn't mean he cannot use other examples to explain his point, we can
respect that can't we? also you are assuming he wrote that to sound "smart" which is evidently
a harsh premature assumption.
