I'm not trying to be rude, but seriously, this book will teach you how to answer those questions for yourself. It's not about Buddhism really, so don't be scared away thinking it is some religious mumbo-jumbo.

ive seen it first hand lost the best girl in the world to a bunch of kids with cheap guns. Its just hell and it gets you thinking

I wouldn't say that mans only goal is the destruction of others, but rather that the path we're taking leads to it. We're all individuals with our own beliefs, opinions and desires. It is easy to blame the whole humanity for someone elses mistakes. It is also understandable.
Humans are in general a very egocentric and selfish IMO. But that's all because we aren't perfect. We have flaws just like any other species.
If you've lost someone you love, then try to move on(i know it may be hard). It's going to be even harder if they were killed by someone. Especially if it's another human being. It's going to be hard. You're going to curse people. You're going to hate people. But for the sake of your loved ones, you have to move on. You have to be happy again.
