When I see a spear user, it normally doesn't end well. The same thing happens every time: I pull out a katana and spam running R1's until they are low on health, they turtle, I BS. Very boring.
Not saying anything against spear users, things just don't normally end well.

Luckily for you I only use a shield with a spear when I'm cosplaying a silver knight.

My Intelligence build is the antithesis of mages, so I have a blast fighting them. Over 400 magic defense is not to be scoffed at.

Shields aren't too useful in PvP, unless you are fighting a spear user. If they are lagging, there is no point in trying to roll out of it.

A shield is much more useful then a shotel.
And something tells me that a Longsword +15 doesn't work well in the offhand since it doesn't have a parry.

I've found Forest Hunters who go to the giant cats when they start to get ganked. It's pretty clever. And if the cats are dead they run to the mushroom parents.
