Is this normal?
I was having a few matches against my friend, and I noticed something. I was a lot sloppier. My timing was always off, and I kept doing the wrong things.

Re: Is this normal?
Everyone has a bad day in Dark Souls.
Best way to solve it is to just make a new run and do some hollowed PvE as a low level, don't go past Capra. That's what I always do.

It could also be that since you're playing with a friend you know not to expect any dirty tactic/too many surprises so you tend to take the foot off the gas a little which can lead to a little sloppiness.

If you are sloppy, and haven't taken a break, just do a few runs, get comfortable with timings again, which weaponry is best for you, etc. You'll get the hang of it eventually.

Training always helps me when I haven't played in a while. Try going against some randoms and not your friends as you won't likely expect anything bad like Pendant said. If you want hard training become human and head to the forest for a bit.

Re: Is this normal?
Yeah I have days like that. Some days I couldn't Dark Bead spam a new player, and then other days I kill an average gank squad with no problem.
Today I killed off 4 players in 2 invasions and it would have been 5 if the host didn't run for the fog while I was killing his phantoms
But yesterday I kept getting killed in each invasion with hardly any successful invasions.

Chainstabs are baaaad mmm'kay?
Playing worse is probably due to you being more relaxed since it's more of a casual duel.

Backstab fish, like a casul.
Backstab, casul style.
Go behind the casul's back again.
Backstab the casul.
Repeat.
An introduction to chain backstabbing.

Re: Is this normal?
The same thing happened to me for a long time. I used to have days where I just wasn't the same PvPer. When those days came, I just took a short break and all was well again within a couple of days.
It's been happening less frequently now, and when it does happen it is not as bad as it used to be. The longer you play and the more experience you get, the less this will happen.

It's just positioning yourself behind an enemy so when they finish the getting up animation you can BS them again.Rynn wrote:I forgot how to chainstab.

Practice on Havel, he's got a lot of health and early game you can get some insane chains on him.

To chainstab in PvP, you have to stand where the would normally be facing you when they get up, so when they roll away you can get the lagstab.Latitoast wrote:It's just positioning yourself behind an enemy so when they finish the getting up animation you can BS them again.Rynn wrote:I forgot how to chainstab.

Re: Is this normal?
I see. I have yet to test it in PvP, I've just chainstabbed Havel so many times his backside probably hates me by now, and he's what I call "Player NPCs"
Pretty much just a character that behaves like a player does. (Rolls, holds with both hands, backsteps, parries etc.)

Re: Is this normal?
Yes, any NPC can be chainstabbed like that, but in PvP, it's different.Latitoast wrote:I see. I have yet to test it in PvP, I've just chainstabbed Havel so many times his backside probably hates me by now, and he's what I call "Player NPCs"

If they roll into you, but that can also be chained by waiting a split second after they get up, if they roll away from you then you have to backstab as soon as they roll.RenegadeCop wrote:Can't people roll cancel chain backstabs?
