Saddest Anime you've watched?

I am kinda new here lol don't think this has been done.

I just re-watched one of my favourite animes which i also consider to be the saddest, i think it's the only anime i've shed tears, (manly tears of course), definitely recommend it to any anime fans out there

You should, and prepare to break out the tissues. I've also heard that Clannad is similarly sad.

@densetsushun I've seen Clannad it had a one or two sad scenes but i've heard Clannad After story is really sad. Added Air to my list of animes to watch

I heard about Nichijou from a friend and watched a few clips on Youtube, good stuff. Sadly, my girlfriend doesn't agree, she thinks Lucky Star contains enough random for her

Saddest? Probably aoi bungaku- so nerdy and sad it's adaptation of classic Japanese literature.. Even though its good its a bit like.. Why did I watch that?

You know d Gray man isn't actually finished as a manga right? They're just taking their sweet sweet time -_- dunno why I still read it, the least memorable manga I've read.. Just dunno what's going on anymore

saddest series have to go to remi(my avatar) and movie goes to grave of the fireflies. those two made me so damn sad but they're so good.

Saddest I've liked is wolfs rain. Others that could be argued as sadder generally fail to engage me.

Only 1 anime has made me cry, but that wasn't sadness.

I think theres a couple.. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Hellsing at some points.... im sure theres more but i cant remember atm/.

Well Requiem from the Darkness had some sad, though often melodramatic story.

That whole incest story with the sister jealous of her younger sister being closer to their dad sexually was pretty saddening.

Without too much Melodrama I'd probably go with Cowboy Bebop, maybe Akira. I don't know, I haven't really seen much anime that wasn't trying way too *** hard to be sad.

Sexy Commando Gaiden. It really tugged on my heart strings. Um, for real probably Welcome to the NHK or the easy answer Grave of the Fireflies. I don't really like those Key(Clannad,Air,ext) anime, they come off as overly dramatic and corny to me.

In my opinion Cowboy Bebop has some really sad and bittersweet moments, but I probably wouldn't classify it as a Sad Anime.

Modoka is absolutely *** tragic, but I dunno if it qualifies as sad.

Wolf's rain was very dramatic/sad and very good.
Air and Clannad were very good but I saw Kanon first (the original version, not the remake), and I have better memories of it.
These Key animes are not that sad imo, the fact there is too much cliché makes them good, or very good, but not the best. I couldn't finish Clannad, it was too much like Kanon and I got bored by the characters that were almost the same than in Kanon. Air was a bit different but not that much.

The saddest I've ever watched should be Honey & Clover (both seasons). And it's also one of my favorite. It's more mature and it's easier to identify oneself with the characters.
I've watched hundreds of animes series an this one is clearly in my top selection.

Valkyria Chronicles (the first one). It's a PS3 exclusive, but fits here perfectly. I'm hard to move but this game... this f*cking game...

Makes you attached and love your peeps, then rips them apart.

I heard the sequels sucked and the anime was horrible.

Angel beats, it is really sad in the last few episodes.

Also has cute girls in it. It's pretty good, about 16 episodes.

What's with all the Key hate?
