Chaos Blade: a viable weapon?

Now I'm sure most people in the PvP forum recognise me as the enthusiastic noob, so hai.

I'm a bit of an idiot really, but basically my PvP build is focussed entirely on being eastern, with full eastern armour and chaos blade +5 and 40 dex naturally, two handing the awesomeness blade.

Now this seems to be about six hit kill on most people, but there are some people, usually with havel's and giant sets of armour etc, who even when I back stab (I use the hornet ring too) like only take 1/10 of their health off.

Now I love the chaos blade for its quirkiness and (normally) high damage, I'm at SL 106, and I'm wondering what to spend the final points on, mainly to help combat these seemingly impossible to kill people, would magic or something help maybe? I have a fully upgraded and ascended pyro fist if that helps..

Also, any reccomendations as to what to do when I get on super low health and can no longer use the chaos blade, currently I use pyro and my dark fist to be annoying to them and hopefully get some humanity for my troubles.

Are you playing on xbox?

Anyway, pvp players often have an off-hand pyromancy flame with great combustion or black flame to supplement the katana, also go 45 dex for faster cast speed. I also like to have a rapier equipped on my chaos blade builds when I get low on health.

You mentioned backstabbing being a part of your tactics.

Carry a secondary rapier. Crit damage on it far outperforms the C Blade.

When you get low on hp, use uchi/iato instead of C Blade. Or any other wep you choose.

First thing make sure you've 10 humanity on the top left of your screen(just in case you din't know humanity adds damage to the chaos blade). Pump 5 more into dex to speed up the pyro casting times and get yourself great combustion, black flame etc.

When you go low on hp, run and try to menu switch to an iaito.

For those giants + family mask guys:

1. Get enough attunement for 2 slots

2. Carry maxed pyro glove fire tempest and force.

3. After a successful backstab or a force knockdown, time a fire tempest so it hits them as they stand up.

4. Enter the competition for most hate mail.

The fun thing about this is that the required investment is so small that almost any build can fit it in big grin

Ah fire tempest... well I'll give that a go.. and Force?? isn't that a miracle (facepalms at my idiocy)

Sadly I won't be able to use the rapier because then I'll be over 1/4 equipment load. (eastern armour's a bit inconveniently heavy so I need 57 END)

And thanks for the 45 DEX tip, I got a million or so spare souls so I'll level that up straight away.

Edit: and yeah I already off handed my pyro glove, but with chaos fire orb and firestorm.

if you need to swap to your pyro glove, then even if you do the fire tempest instantly after you Backstab some one, they have plenty of time to flip away unless they are mid rolling.

I was thinking more along the lines of literally fast-swapping into force, knocking someone over and instantly activating tempest lol. (IE vs gankers, run around a corner, and have the talisman and glove out)

It's pretty hard after a BS, unless they have nowhere to go (also somewhat luck dependent). Still, couldn't you pull it off if you poise-BS someone then do it immediately? It's been a while since I've used this tactic; maybe I was just landing it on people because they didn't time their roll or due to lag delaying their timing.

Chaos Blade is one of the best PvP weapons in the game.

If you are only taking 1/10th of somebody's health with a 10/40 Chaos Blade BS, they are probably hacking. Or maybe have Blue Tearstone Ring or something.

Haha, thanks guys. Sadly I haven't been able to game today, but tomorrow I will be able to and I will post up my character sheet, so you can help me figure out the last couple of levels to 120.

Yesterday I found out that when you use regular dodge (just press B, or circle) and then press regular attack, your character does the sprinting forwards attack animation, which with chaos blade is a really long reaching forward jab. I've caught a lot of people off guard with this!!!

But yes I'm certain, the guy had full havel's or something and I BS hornet ring, 10/40 dual handed him, I couldn't see barely a move on his health bar. Hackers exist in X360?

Only magic I would recommend is pyros. Even that is probably less preferable than increased vit.

Is it worth investing it into INT so I can maybe buff the chaos blade? or does that not work because it's a boss weapon.

Dagnammit.. so I guess I can dump the rest into DEX up to 45 and the rest into VIT. Unless I want RES or something? maybe attunement?

Chaos Blade does not require a whole build around it.
Just 45 dex is alright.
And a bit of vitality never hurts.
