Should Dark Souls 2 have elf ears?
I recently got Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen and noticed the option to put elf ears on my character. I thought this was a pretty cool idea. Then I thought it would be cool if Dark Souls 2 has this option. I found out Anor = Sun in Sindarin, a made up elfish language in The Lord of the Rings. Dark Souls has an elfish name in it. Why not some elves to go with it?

My answer:
No.
We are undead humans, not forest faeries.

As interesting as that can seem I say no with this. It would seem out of place here to play as a person with elf ears.. Now NPCs I can agree to.

Who said anything about forest fairies?
If you mean fairytale like, then that's debatable. Darkroot Garden is pretty fairytale like. It has walking trees, stone knights, frog + stingray hybrids, and a giant, magical butterfly. That seems fairytale like to me. Also, adding elves wouldn't make it fairytale like. Play Hunted: The Demon's Forge. That game has a very dark setting, and the main, female character is an elf.

I hate games with elf ears.
It ruins them IMO.
I like things to be the same race.
I don't want an elf running around.

My issue is that elf ears tend to translate into powerful mages and that is very old to do.

I think the ears are unoriginal and stupid.
Just my opinion, but again, I prefer things to all be the same race.

I should mention I absolutely detest elves in fantasy, with an extreme passion. My vote is no.

Usually I don't mind elves.
But not in Dark Souls. I dislike an idea of mixing DaS world with some other with elves.

Elves are incredibly generic and boring. No.

Re: Should Dark Souls 2 have elf ears?
One of the reasons dark souls stands out is the fact it stays away from the traditional nuances of many fantasy races like elves, orcs etc in favour of much more dark, twisted foes. To be perfectly honest- stuff like elves really doesn't really suit the souls vibe
I don't feel elf ears would add anything really, except for gimmicky gratification for lotr fans

Re: Should Dark Souls 2 have elf ears?
I have a certain disliking towards elves and I would rather not be invaded by a guy with elf ears. Also, elves are currently unheard of in Dark Souls, so it wouldn't make much sense to allow us to make half elves.

Re: Should Dark Souls 2 have elf ears?
i said yes but when i say yes i mean NPC elf like ppl and enemies not the player because the player is not an elf he/she is a human trying to rid themselves of a curse, and not i said elf LIKE which means in appearance not actually them being elves. i just like the pointy ears. oh and also Elves dont always mean powerful mages, really most of the time elves are archers or assassin like beings more than magic users even though they do relate to magic

Lol, I thought it was the CoD...I voted no immediately.
Actual elves???? Um.......idc, just not CoD.
I wouldn't mind doing a "Mr. Spock" cosplay though.

What people? I don't recall a single green skinned human(oid) in either Souls game. Even if there are some characters with green skin, that doesn't make them orcs, if that's what you were referring to...

Re: Should Dark Souls 2 have elf ears?
Nah, it would change some lore, I like the fact that there are only humans and lords as races...
Okay, I wasn't very precise but you got the idea.

Re: Should Dark Souls 2 have elf ears?
I would say no. I don't think elves would detract from the dark atmosphere, Hunted: the Demons forge was a great example that someone mentioned. Also, if you notice, in berserk Guts has slightly pointed ears and he is human. I would like to see someone claim that story is not dark. But I don't think pointed ears fit well into Dark Souls. It just wouldn't seem natural to me.

Re: Should Dark Souls 2 have elf ears?
nah, Dark Souls has its own distinct sense of style, why dilute it with formulaic, predictable cliches. . .
elf ears are only good for ripping off and putting in a stew

I don't think people screwing around with the skin pigment system counts as changing race if I'm perfectly honest. That's a pretty weak argument, sorry.
It also states in game that we are meant to be human, not smurfs/greenmen etc.
However you know being green is totally possible if your tissue becomes necrotic, which if I'm being pedantic here should happen to our hollow bodies- technically we should all look like this rather than flesh colour:
- If squeamish please don't look:
- Again if squeamish dont look (this one is less bad):
