The death of dark souls and its future Empty The death of dark souls and its future

    Post by raecor14 Sun May 12, 2013 4:52 am

good day friends, it has been a good few years, hanging out on the forum, participating in the covenants and helping those who need help. however i am not here to ask for build advice, talk about why faith is Superior it int or even ***** about dark bead, i am here to discuss the death of dark souls. we as a community have reached a point where most of us have capped a high level of skill. i can use any weapon at least semi- effectively, and those i am familiar with i can devastate even the most skilled of players.

now i have played so long i am bored, and eventually i will take that leap of "goodbye" for a while. for me, this won't be will just before dark souls 2, but it will happen. my question for us all is when will you leave? when will you stop playing and just chill on here? and will you come back for dark souls 2? because i know i will, you guys are like my friends, i have spent too much time here just to leave.

EDIT: and what do you all think will happen to PVP with all these great people leaving? we have had some amazing players leave recently, do you think it will become like COD? or do you think it will become a ghost town,

As far as I can tell, Dark Souls won't die soon. There's still so much action going on in PvP and I think it'll last until DkS2 will be released, at least.

Timely topic, I've been contemplating this lately as well. I'm not sure Demon's is quite dead, though. Ironically, I would have agreed with you about half a year ago, but it seems to be making a comeback. It's helped in part by the flickering glitch, but also MartyrsBrigade99's Friday uploads are surely turning people back onto Demons.

But, I believe that Dark Souls will have an ever better chance to carry on. Remember, that Dark Souls II will have dedicated servers just like Demon's. You won't be able to play with friends out of your region. Some people may go to Dark Souls just to play with friends. Others may be forced to in order to find people to play with. I know many European players are concerned they won't have anyone to play with.

But, you're very right there are a lot of people fading away from the scene as of late it seems. It's kind of sad. As for me, I don't see myself going anywhere unless this flicker glitch isn't fixed. I actually don't mind it that much, but I find that a lot of the other people who don't mind it are Japanese people -- I could see myself getting fed up with not being able to find a match were I don't get front-stabbed twice before I can do any damage. Other than that; I'm around for the long haul.

I think I shall be taking my leave of the forum quite soon, but will make occasional check-ins, and lending the account to my cousin so he can use it until I am fully back.

I don't plan on leaving these forums. I owe you guys a lot and sticking around just to grace you all with my presence is the least I can do for you.

As for dark souls, well I haven't seriously played it for a while. I loaned it to my friend I doubt I'll be getting it back any time soon.

I'm resisting the urge right now to buy another ps3 prematurely as promised to my wife.

I've mastered playing with my Wii, and realized that my Wii cannot fill the void that has been left by Dark Souls.

However, I'm standing firm. My wife loves my Wii and will play with it forever I'm sure. I get direct benefits from obstaining from buying another ps3 right now.

I will wait to see what the forum's review of DS2 is, and if it's good to great, there is no question I will buy another ps3. Hell I might just pre-order the special edition just in case, and if the game sucks, I'll trade it in and consider it a wash.

This will all be true unless, I cave....which grows in likely hood as each day passes.

I am not really "forumbro" or part of this great community (I don't post much and stuff). But I have few things to say about DKS and DKS2. I think DKS won't die, because this game became old school it became like Diablo II : Lord of Destruction pack, people will always play it no matter what, for nostalgia, good memories, or just fun gameplay. What worries me is DKS2 and it's dedicated servers, if they will be region locked, it will suck BIG TIME

yep, dks will always be here but if they make dks2 like demon's then dks2 wont last nearly as long as dks will.

Not playing Dark Souls for a few months and going to play it again; it's like you've never played the damn thing before.

And these forums are...fairly alive. Not half dead and not crazy like BSN so I'm fairly content to lurk and post here.

I am not leaving anytime soon, forum or the game. I always find some reason to keep coming back here and playing Dark Souls. Might be due to the fact that I play on a every other weekend basis so I never really lose interest like with some other games.

I have to agree with ExplodingPenguin about forum activity, though Off-Topic is always active with something for everyone.

If Dark Souls 2 is region locked,I'll be passing on it.I might stay on the forums but I'll be pretty mad about the game.I live in Europe which is nowhere where as active as NA so I'll just end up bored after finishing the game.Once you remove,co-op and PVP,Dark Souls isn't that good.

Wow. I mean I'd feel bad for you and everything, but I thought Demon's and Dark were fine as a stand alone game without pvp.

I wouldn't say I enjoyed it as much as KOTOR or FFVII, but they are decent games without the co-op/pvp....a lot slower and harder too lol.

But ya dude, I hope if it is region locked you guys/my buds dont get screwed.

But everyone seems to think servers will fix the backstab issue soooo...there you have it.

Better being lagstabbed in PVP than having no PVP at all methinks. No offence but when it comes to gaming,I hate America. You guys get the best servers, the best promotions, generally better internet and more people to play with.I'm gutted over the region lock rumour.Does anyone actually have any confirmation of it? I haven't seen a single official article yet.

I think to be honest the PvP scene has been dead for a while- probably since 2013 dawned when the DLC got old for people, though even before that once march last year hit, player base started dropping like flies.

I haven't played much for a long time, and I never truly grasped a true invincible level of skill at PvP that others have seen to, but if I get anywhere near the 600 hours I got out of Dark souls in it's sequel I'll be a happy guy.

I will without doubt buy Dark Souls II, irrespective of reviews- the amount of value for money I've got out of FROM is frankly ridiculous. I've only given them £45 of my money (one ofmy dks copies is preowned) for 2 games and the DLC. After getting each hour of play for less than 7 pence per hour, I think they deserve some more capital their way.

Cant argue with that. Again dude, here's crossing fingers...

Also, I think I'm with Serious. FROM has saved me LOADS of money in comparison.

I'm not sure if I'll buy another ps3 until I see what some of my buds from this forum have to say, but I'll pre-order the deluxe/se/whatever edition regardless for sure. If I have to trade it in and call it a wash because it sucks then so be it.

Few games stretch the dollar per hour value better than dark souls. Considering I got mine free the ratio is just absurd(!)

Psssh I ain't leaving until Dark Souls 2. Every Friday/Saturday I give myself a free day and I call my friend up and we quest for hours. We're currently making max level characters starting with level 1 pyromancers so we can see we started from level 1. We're also going to NG+7, but this is mostly out of necessity as you eventually need millions of souls for 1 level

Anyways, my point is that if you have a friend that loves to play Dark Souls as much as you then you probably won't get bored as it becomes your mode of "hanging out." I mean, I hardly talk to him, and so when we play we also catch up with each other and just shoot the breeze. This has definitely factored into how much I play as I won't play (as much) when he isn't around. I'll still troll in the forest though lol!

Edit: Another thing to note which will definitely keep me interested in DkSI and DkSII for a long time is that since it is on the current generation I'll pass on the new consoles for a few years and just get a better xbox. The reason for this is because I'll be able to give my old one to my girlfriend and get her a copy of DkSI because after watching me play it for the past 2 years she's started to express interest. king <- how I felt when we talked about this.
