Re: Video Game Trivia
Nope. The biggest help on this one is that the Genesis didn't have an abundance of RPGs

Re: Video Game Trivia
Yeah I think the Phantasy Star and Shining Force series were the only ones I played. I know of a couple others though. Was it Shining in the Darkness?
Wait is it a Genesis exclusive or not? Because there were a few of those too.
I absolutely have no idea based on the criteria of your question. I'm totally just guessing Genesis games.

Re: Video Game Trivia
Nope. I'm not even sure why we had this game but it was awesome. You're doing the mostly normal RPG thing but with more action oriented combat. You get to this new city...figure let's go see what new weapons I might be able to buy. Step in and the guy won't let you leave until you buy an essentially useless item. No matter how much money you have, it's not enough to pay for it so he takes all of it and all your weapons to boot and leaves you with a pretty terrible sword

Re: Video Game Trivia
Nope it's not an exclusive, or nope you're not sure?
If it's a sword than it's not Shadowrun either. Umm. I doubt it's Landstalker because I don't think that game had the depth of weapon purchases and so forth. Was it a Lunar game? The Sega CD add-on was essentially still Genesis.
It's probably not Warsong either, because I don't think there was city exploration at all in that game. It's a good one anyway though.

Re: Video Game Trivia
Sorry, nope to shining in the darkness. It is an exclusive. Sega was the publisher and developer

Re: Video Game Trivia
I think Exile and Light Crusader are the only other ones I know, and I'm not sure who developed either of them. Light Crusader was a pretty popular game, is that what it was?

Re: Video Game Trivia
Nope. This might be considered a cult hit. It's been republished on other consoles since but I don't recall a ton of buzz at first

Re: Video Game Trivia
I'm going to have to think about this one.
The Shining Force series was always my big one on Genesis. I'm actually in the midst of a SF2 playthrough now. Love those games. Phantasy Star 4 I think holds its own with any SNES Final Fantasy game too. That's probably an unpopular opinion, but it's so true. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm just discovering League of Legends I probably would have just inspired myself to start a playthrough. I haven't done that one in a long time.

Re: Video Game Trivia
Right? I didn't always though. I didn't start getting really good grades until college. The discovery of Chrono Trigger/Secret of Mana may well have been the transition between my passable high school grades and my marginal ones.

Re: Video Game Trivia
I actually just recently tried to get into those. Have any of you guys played them? The reason I ask is Silver Star Story hasn't aged very well, but Eternal Blue seems very playable, so I'm wondering if anyone knows if you need to play SSS in order to understand everything from EB?

Re: Video Game Trivia
Don't spill the beans yet. I've been thinking about it. Was it Beyond Oasis?
Also if it's exclusive it can't be Might and Magic, because those games are for everything, and it can't be Ys, because those are definitely snes games too.

I'm gonna go with either Phantasy Star or Rent-A-Hero.

Phantasy Star has been guessed. I've never heard of Rent-a-Hero though. Good?
