It's a big departure game play wise but it's fun. Sega really tried to carve out their own niche so at the very least it's unique. I'd say go for it with the disclaimer being that I just gave away one of the craziest story elements ever

Cool. I'll probably give it a shot. I've enjoyed most of the Sega rpgs I've really given a chance, but at the same time most of those have been mainstream enough that I really knew what I was getting into.

It's so weird that video games have different names in different countries that require no translation. I could understand different translations leading to different names, but I don't understand why it'd be done between countries that speak the same language. I can't really see it from like a cross-cultural sales perspective. I don't find either of the terms cloud or chronicle any more appealing than the other.

I've found it's actually quite common in America to use a sequel line like dark cloud 2 instead of chronicle- it's because American society (at least to me) seems a lot more brand and reputation oriented than most cultures.
This is actually the precise reason why souls is going into numeral sequels so that they're more recognised as a brand in America to the general population who take less depth of interest than the people here.
