    THE ULTIMATE VIABILITY THREAD!!!! YAY
    the goal of this here thread is to get rid of those stupid "is this viable" threads.
    how do i plan on doing this? THROUGH RESEARCH!!!! anyone who is willing to participate is welcome, just comment and such. find a weapon you never see used, test it out and rate it. as of now i have well, nothing except for the server which i will do a demo writeup for.

    The server:
    a small mura most would call it but this thing can hit like a truck and holds less weight, honestly its about a 7/10 only problem is the mura hits like a nuke on a small island...

    Added:
    Every spear has he following traits: low stamina consumption, quick
    attack recovery, tip can't be parried, able to block and poke moderate
    damage

    Spear: short range, low stat requirements. 6/10

    Winged spear: average range, high physical AR but high stat investment. 7/10

    Demon spear: high damage, insanely long range. 9/10

    Silver knight spear: insanely long range, moderately high physical AR. Easiest weapon in the game to dead angle with. 8/10

    Moonlight butterfly horn: insane range, low damage, chips through shields amazingly well: 7/10

    Trident: moderate range, low damage, special buff. 6/10

    Pike: insanely long range, heavy. 6/10
    Ricard's-
    Equal to Estoc as the highest in AR if ONLY DEX is invested into.
    Powerful but predictable r2 moveset. r2 after sucessful parry more
    powerful than riposte if weapon is buffed.

    Mail Breaker- Useless but light if you want to stab someone in the back and can't carry a Bandit's Knife.

    Estoc-
    Longest rapier, insane AR for a rapier when Str and Dex are at 40
    (362!) most viable/diverse moveset, 2hr2 is a surprisingly heavy attack.

    Velka's-
    As long as the Estoc or nearly, very powerful with both 40 Dex and
    Intelligence, stronger than Enchanted Estoc if only Intelligence is
    invested into. Best choice for mages.

    Rapier- Highest crit
    damage, second highest AR if Str and Dex at 40. Weaker than Ricards with
    only Dex invested into. R2 moveset useful but not spectacular.

    I made a thread like this on another forum. Granted, that was with Demon's Souls, and in Demon's Souls it's a lot easier to come to a consensus about which weapons are good and which are bad.

    I don't see very many of a lot of weapons I think are totally great.

    The Scythe
    Painting Gaurdian Sword
    Silver Knight Sword
    Gravelord Sword (like the server it's just seen as a worse mura, which may be true but it's damage and the toxic are no joke)
    The Abyss Sword (it's special R2s aren't always the right choice, but 1h can dead angle like a boss and stop any BS fishing no probs)
    Offhand Rapier/Estoc (I see curved swords and daggers used off hand, and rarely I'll see a spear the Estoc can parry and has a good reaching poke, kind of an offhand hybrid between the parrying dagger and a spear)

    So I think my first Foray will be a pretty normal build SL100 and I'll use the PGS with an offhand Rapier

    Rapiers can both offhand poke AND parry?

    maaan Im SO dumb for using spears offhand :razz:

    Gravelord Sword is probably the best sword for vit gouge builds now days, also stunlocks like a boss.


    Server is good for Replenishment builds, however I prefer the Butchers Knife over it due to the better scaling and not needing to make a quality build to get the best out of it. Also if you're doing Replen then it's best to go with Sunlight Blade, for which the single stat scaling Butchers Knife is better.


    I haven't for a while, but when I PvP'd in Oolacile both the Abyss Sword and the Silver Knight Sword were very common, SKSw is quite common with buff builds in lieu of the Balder Side Sword.


    I have an SL120 Gwyn cosplay build ready to go so I'll do the GreatLGS and the Crystal Greatsword. Pre-preemptively though, Crystal gets 3/10 for it's lackluster damage and weight and range and GreatLGS gets 6/10 for it's low scaling, sh***y R2's, and because for a weapon that takes 1.5 playthroughs to get it's not as good as it should be and I can't light it on fire.

    Well... I can guess ill just rate the spears. Please note that I'm not prejudice against other weapons, spears are all just really really useful.

    I suggest lose the occult claw, and switch to Giant leggings for the poise. I also would trade health for another attunement slot for WoG, as a way to kill gankers easier.

    Could somebody review the rapiers/stabby swords?

    I'm trying to figure out which one I should use but just started a new playthrough. Currently my favourite is Richard's rapier

    Estoc is the best rapier for dueling imo, you might want to use the Rapier if you're invading and care about criticals more than straightforward fighting. If you have very low Str and 40 Dex you might want to use Ricard's. If you have high Int you might want to use Velka's.
