I agree, you can parry with nothing in your off hand, I think we should have only the one weapon no dual wield or weapon swap, you don't do that in fencing.

2 quick questions though: are the weapons to be normally upgraded (i.e. +15) or can they be taken up any upgrade path? And can we carry two weapons in the main hand (or off-hand) and switch between then during the duels?

Yes, to both. Any upgrade path is allowed. And not only can you equip four rapiers at once, it's strongly recommended. Because if you toggle; you'll need to toggle to another rapier.
Also; yesterday I noticed it's not hard to accidentally back-stab someone after a missed jump attack. If someone lands a back-stab both fighters should heal and restart the match. I will make a note in the OP.
