Tolvo wrote:Very good stuff Jan, and I was planning to add a lot of that but it's good to have someone else's version of it as well in the thread. Another useful Miracle, Force. It is one of the greatest escape tools, since you can knock away three people then run to a better fighting position, not to mention how many casts it has.
For some reason quoting is broken for me, I can't get out of the quote box to say my own stuff. But yes Force is basically a no damage WoG, making it suitable for everything good WoG does but the damage.
How come I can't get out of other people's quote boxes, I don't like this new format it's not working for me

Re: How to Even the Odds
I've seen a pretty good video about Karmic Justice, I think it was MAYHEM...?
Using a shield that blocks 99% physical damage or below, seemed to be a good tactic.
I'd imagine it could be set up nicely on a anti-gank build, and also provide maximum lols.
One more notch on the bedpost for miracles I guess.

Mayhem used the Crystal Ring Shield, which blocks 70%.

That's why he said 99% or below.

I'd probably go with Grass Crest, but whatever.

Grass crest or Caduceus at lower levels; its magic protection is really good!

Re: How to Even the Odds
I don't think a shield that blocks 100% will activate it.
Effigy might work nice as well. I might even try the Darkhand, but the "knockback" might get in the way of activation a little. I don't know though, I've never tried a build like that myself.
*edit*
Actually, I think any shield that lets you take some damage will activate it. However, having a shield that doesn't block 100% of physical damage is the most reliable way to activate it. idk

Re: How to Even the Odds
100% won't activate it. To activate KJ, you need to receive HP damage of ANY kind. So even if you have a 100% Physical shield and block elemental, or magic damage, it will still activate KJ. A best way to show this is to block Soulmass spell.
Mayhem used Crystal Ring Shield cos it blocks decently both Physical and Magical damage, but let's some through, so it activates KJ. Also, people know it has low Stability, so they will be more aggresive and attempt to break your guard, thus further helping KJ activation.

There is also the suicide tactic for really dumb enemies. Even if you are dying, if they continue to swing and hit your dying body it will set it off.

Re: How to Even the Odds
It is a classic trick, basically go super hyper mode, RTSR and all, on a glass cannon. Gankers will often button mash while surrounding you, and since you'd die anyway from getting caught you blow up and kill them all, best done at a bit lower of levels so they don't have the best armor and too high of vit.

Re: How to Even the Odds
I think the first thing needed to be successful against multiple foes is your brain. The battles are always fluid and different. Your first step should be to assess your opponents strengths and weakness. And most importantly, are they talking with each other.
I never rush into anything. If the host goes through the boss gate and escapes, so be it. I'm interested in the fighters, not the runners. I try to ease into the fight, test the skill level, recognize armor and weapons, and determine what type of spells are going to be cast. Of course number one on the list is how many am I facing. You see two, but the third could be waiting in ambush if you fail to check for him.
Of course there are also those who just wait at the spawn point and jump you. Even when this happens don't rage, take the time to look and learn everything you can about them before you black out. You will get another chance at them, so use that information to be better prepared and move your spawn point if you can.
Last but not least.... learn the area you are hunting in. Practice the shortcuts, learn the ambush spots, and know the shortest routes to ledges and choke points. Also where the mobs are, how strong they are, and how they attack.

By the way, if people wish to do some Anti-Ganker builds they can, but I'll likely only add ones that are designed all around being effective and no being stylistic.

Definitely good times Emergence, I just hope I won't lose too much of my mind working on this. Looking at the magic section, you can probably tell I've signed up for more than I bargained for.

Re: How to Even the Odds
I never gank at level 120, when the build I'm making is done leveling up. I sometimes gank before that though, but I do it in Darkroot Forest as a non-Forest Hunter. So 3v1 is not an option, and mostly I get 2v2 fights, which is a lot of fun.
Also as a person who gets ganked a lot, here is the best advice I can give: If you invade gankers in Darkroot Forest, run to the giant mushrooms. Most people overestimate their own power, and underestimate the power of the giant mushrooms. They get hit for 650 damage and get knocked back. Proceed to backstab them as they get up.

Sent that is a pretty powerful gimmick build, though the Crown of Dusk actually boosts Miracles too. Alright I'll likely be working on it again later.

Re: How to Even the Odds
I sometimes do. There's a list of nasty things I don't do even then, though.
1: chainstab. wake-up attacks are fair game
2: no twop
3: I usually minimize any environmental advantages I have unless the player is a maxed out caster, being nasty beyond antigriefing/antiganking, and pursuers. I will Force people off of ledges.

Re: How to Even the Odds
My favorite non tree mob in Darkroot is actually the Rolly Cats. It's surprising how many hosts forget to clear them. You end up with a perfect arena, with clear sight lines to entry ways and a hell of a backup cast. If you're hosting there looking for an honorable fight, I also recommend that arena. It's very obvious you're not ganking for the most part if an invader finds you there.
Should answer the poll. I ganked individuals once. Currently I am more than willing to use mobs and NPCs in the forest to gank the gankers (yeah, I'm still ganking).

The build is all about WoG and getting max out of it.Tolvo wrote:Sent that is a pretty powerful gimmick build, though the Crown of Dusk actually boosts Miracles too. Alright I'll likely be working on it again later.
you can use SLB if you want. The damage won't be top notch, but it can make gankers be wary of you. They don't know you have base Str/Dex.
One thing though. It's a suicide build. If used to it's max, it requires both RTSR and PW, so you'll have a short window of opportunity to one shot gankers with OP WoG and then you die.
Yukas is using a similar build in this video.
He has less Stamina, but more HP, the rest is probably the same.
Observe the damage.
