Indictment in PvP good or bad?
Would indicting people in PvP be seen as a good or a bad thing? I personally do not like to be indicted especially after a nice clean fight, I understand forest gangers indicting you since in their mind set if you can win in a 3v1 against them you must be a cheater or as one of my recent hatemail said a "Japanese wannabe" but is indincting in normal PvP seen as a good thing?

It's a good thing. Means more Darkmoons for you to kill when they invade you.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
As far as I know, Invaders used to want to be Indicted to move up in the Book of the Guilty and to fight more Darkmoons. However I believe that people don't care about Book of the Guilty anymore, especially after the top spots have been taken by hackers and modders.
Now, people either go to the Forest for some hardcore, no rules invasions, where Indicting means very little, because Darkmoons don't get much playing field in there. In normal 1v1 and duels, people usually view Indicting as being a sore loser.

Yeah darkmoon is dead, spent most of the weekend picking fights in ollacille and got invaded by 1 darkmoon. I see an adictment as a badge of honour at the moment, used piss me off before. Tried darkmooning on the last build and gave up in the end.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
It varies on whether you want to be invaded by darkmoons or not. I ususally reserve indictments for people that play in such a manner tha I think it's harmful to the pvp community and indict them so they'll be invaded more and thus have less time to invade others. I doubt the darkmoons beat them very often, though, so I really expect that this achieves very little.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
IMO indictments lost any small meaning they might have had. Darkmoons are easily the most scarce invader I see, despite many indictments. Even with gobs of sin you're several times more likely to get invaded by darkwraiths.
I wouldn't even carry indictments anymore, except that it's so cheap to buy one and I LOVE the quote you get when you do so lol . That's always worth the 200 souls after picking up the "Well, what is it?" gesture.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
Sentiel was right. Before the book became the common hack of the game invaders wanted to be indicted by hosts they killed so they can move up in the book. Like a reputation system. These days you don't even bother and the guys I faced who do indict do because I made them mad when I won. Though I indict some people for one thing, mind you it is a bit rude of me but it works most times depending on where I am. When I get a guy who is cheap, heals or does the point down thing I indict and then invade as a DM. Depending in where I am I have a chance to get the cheap guy who killed me and get payback.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
What a question!
Yes - always use indictment, all DWs want PvP, so they want the DMs in their world.
There are some scumbag DM who think DW don't deserve honorable fights (that must be the same sort of people who think DW deserve to be spawn ganked), but i like to fight them anyways.
I don't indict in FCs, or if the DW that invades me is a scumbag - everybodx else becomes the indictment to keep PvP alive for the DW and the DM.

This maybe true in the burg and township at sl 100/120 most darkmoon are lower I would suspect.
When I vade the Forrest I vade from the BF and get vaded buy more Darkmoons than DW.
I have two 125 Darkmoons which I host with, if I lose I always indict and quite often I vade them straight back.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
I always indict for the very reason people want more PvP. However, I never give DMs a fair fight; I do what I can to win. They're higher level, they're geared for invasions (where many times I'm just doing PvE) so with both of those aspects going for them, they're better equipped than I am.

Indict everybody. Indict just people you like, indict people you don't like but indict someone. I don't get any pvp if you don't.

I never get a fair fight anyway as a DM and I don't expect one. I will kill just because I invaded you. No hard feelings but I just have to kill you. I have to tell people that when they complain about me killing them. And I got to love the indict then invade you thing. It is fun and half the time they don't even know it.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
my indictment button is a middle finger. I figure if you're an invader, you've got the PVP thing figured out to where you can invade when you want to. You don't need my help to get PVP, I guess, is what I'm saying, because you've already got a red eye orb or a cat ring, or whatever. So if you fight clean and cool and whatever -- basically as long as you're not a total **** -- I don't indict.
The indictment message is my way of telling the invader "You're a ****" without having to go into PSN messaging and type it out. I only do it for ****, because that's what I mean when I do it.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
Here's how I see indicting:
If I am invading and I get indicted, I like it because it normally means I made them mad.
If I am hosting, I will indict people who gave me an extremely good fight.
I do this because indicting gives them more Darkmoon invasions, so they get more PvP. If I think someone is good enough to deserve the extra PvP, I'll indict them.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
Sids you realize you need people to indict if you play as a darkmoon? Without indictments, they get hardly any action. I drop indictments to people as well, because I'm hardly ever indicted as a DW.
I don't like DMs, seems to be the poor mans PvP (guaranteed higher level; I don't like winning because of extra stats/defence), but I do think they deserve to have PvP action as well.

I am woefully disappointed at the lack of hate mail I've been getting in the forest stunlocking hosts/phantoms with a lightning zwei in full havel's. Maybe it looks too similar to the typical ganking phantom? I don't know. Here's a summary of my inbox across saturday/sunday invasions.
1. Host making excuses as to why he hacked.
2. Comment along the lines of it being a poor idea for him to try to break my poise, but a show of respect between us because each of us won a 1v1 fight. In the forest.
3. Someone friending me, saying that he'll improve at PvP and rematch me one day.
4. A message inviting all recent combatants to some kind of youtube kickstarter event.
5. GL host apologizing because a SoV phantom told him he'd just watch, then SoV backstabbed me. Turns out he meant it, because when I invaded that world later I attacked SoV (keeping an eye on my back) and host let me fight him 1v1 (I was fully expecting a gank lol).
6. I had a close match with someone, barely losing, and sent him a gg and commented that I'm not used to that quality of opposition in the forest. He responded "I came over from town****" .
Cmon man, this is the FOREST! No hate mail at all for zwei stunlocks, fishing vs ganks + getting poise pivot stabs, or simply invading into a lone host fighting the FH NPCs and backstab-gibbing him (I did this multiple times, though to different people)? While the forest is as full of gankers and the occasional hacker as it's ever been, it seems people have become desensitized there. Earning hate mail is hard these days.
I got indicted pretty often, but it's never clear if it's intended to be in anger, in respect, or just for the purposes of more PvP. I myself indict people just for the sake of it, though since I virtually never host and fast-run through the game, it's rare a darkwraith finds me vulnerable. I did have your typical parish griefer invade me just after summoning lautrec, but as soon as he dropped down I climbed the ladder and summoned solaire lol. Lautrec died just as I entered the fog, causing him to be ejected and letting me fight gargs with a mace +0 and solaire. Well, I still had lightning resin and won the fight no problem .

I love the indict, spam blue orb, invade guy who just beat me thing. Yeah, I was hosting solo in the forest bro, this time I'm all geared up (meaning I have my spells and I'm not just humiliating people with a divine greatscythe)

If I were to meet you in the forest, I'd prefer you to use everything right away (unless you won with the scythe, then it wouldn't matter). I kill sif so I don't get harassed as host, but that precludes this comparatively rare response and that's a shame.
I never really regret it though. Hosting/ganking I've tried, but it's far more fun for a personality like mine to invade.

Re: Indictment in PvP good or bad?
I'm with Dibs.
If someone backstabs my bow, no indictment.
If someone uses the "ghost pursuer trick", no indictment.
If someone has horrible lag, or appears that they might be lagswitching, no indictment (just suspected lag switchers, not someone who's just lagging a little)
I reserve indictments for people who make me think, "Hey that was cool, here's some more pvp for you."
Personally, I want the pvp for the people who use the aforementioned tactics to be as dead as a doornail.

I do indict when I find an invader I deems worthy to get beaten down. Normally the ones who use cheap tactics or go giantdad. Really I think I do them good for doing that to people for just cheaping their way through things.

I used to indict every person i came across thinking "You are the Darkmoon Bro's next meal!"
That quickly got old because i constantly got messages like "ay bruh, whyz yew indict me mayne? dat wuz a gewd fight" and i quickly got tired of that.
People who are genuinely into pvp understand what an indictment is. While the others think you are basically calling them scrubby.

It's just that I have no other way of whipping out my **** and pissing on cheaters, other than to drop an indictment on them. If someone gives me a good fight, or even a marginally interesting one, I usually send love-mail; if someone's backstabbing and taunting my corpse, I feel obligated to respond, so I do the only thing I can.
Also it makes me feel better, because as a Darkmoon I really seize *every* advantage I can... I over-level, I bring superpowers, I rock my best gear, etc., everything short of glitching, exploits, cheap tricks, etc. I operate as if Blades exist to curb-stomp **** ***** who use cheap parlor tricks; GRANTED, I know, lots of people *want* the indictments as a reward, and hey, if you ask for it I'll certainly oblige. But yeah. Left to my own devices, I use it against assholes.
