How to be offensive....

Sup everybody!  In my experience I think it is easier to stay defensive to win at DS, swing after opponent attacks, keep shield up, parry, bs punish, and so on. 

Are there any other techniques to stay offensive without using quick weapons or lots of poise?

It's about your mindset, if your brain is subconciously going "Oh **** he's gon' kill me, He gon' slay my arse."
You will end up playing defensively unless you actually try to avoid playing that way.
Your best bet is to try and think of getting killed as a minor annoyance, and think of killing the opponent as the main goal.

So. in short, try to set your brain into full on KillSmashMaimMurder-Mode.

I am the most offensive player you will ever meet. Better yet, I use large weapons to stay offensive. I run constantly, keep up pressure, fake people out, and nearly never stop my attacking. You will be hard pressed to find a time of safety in a fight against me.

How do I stay so offensive? The best defense is a better offense. I also go in with the belief that I will smash their little face in and that I am essentially an immortal badass. I am here to kill you and everyone that so much as dares to look at me. The more time you have that I am not currently beating the living **** out of you, the more time you have to plan your attack against me. My entire fighting style is based off of an unrelenting offense that is done so that people never have enough time to plan against me.

But, there is more to it then just being an aggresive mad-man. You must be unpredictable. Ultimate offensive is very predictable. It is powerful, but predictable. You will get parried, roll-bs'd, and everything else. That is why you must think about every action you do. Switch strategies and tactics mid-fight. When you would normally do a roll then an R1, do an R2. Make it so people think you are just an idiotic aggresive noob, then surprise them with a well timed dead-angle when they try to back-stab you. There is a lot to offensive, and I think it is the best fighting style that there is. It helps if you are a quick thinker and have knowledge of battle-tactics, as if you will be taking the offensive, you need to be able to adapt and switch up what you are doing mid-fight in case the opponent have a pattern that conflicts with the one you are doing.There will be no sitting back and analysing for you, and your job is to make sure your opponent can't do that either.

Yep. Unrelenting, chaotic, and unpredictable offense. The only different between me and Carnage is that my fighting is simply a guise. Controlled and well plotted out fighting under the guise of complete madness. And that is how you be offensive.

Also, having higher DPS, poise, and stamina regen can help you stay offensive as well, but those are simply things you can tack on.

Generally defense wins because it is easier to do, and tactically just a smarter choice in game.  That said there are some ways to play offensively and get it to work.

First of all get a new online ID to go by, something insulting an ethnic or religious group would do well like Jooh8ter69.

Next always always always do Well What Is It after you win, instead of taunting, hell after a host dies that you were supposed to protect.

Constantly send hate mail to people after anything you do together.  They drop you an item, call them a stupid (Insert Racial Slur) that gave up an item you didn't even need.  You kill them in a match call them a scrub and anything they respond with just say "Salty Much?" or "Umadbro?"  

If you use the tools at your disposal and practice often, you will find yourself constantly and effectively being offensive towards other players.

I play a combination of aggressive and stupid. It doesn't work out so well, but when it does, it is a blast. The best thing about offensive playstyle is you can force your opponent into attacks and counter it. Especially if you fake an attack or fake a weakness.

An easy example (and overused one) is this. Unlock and aim behind you with your massive weapons. Many people will try to BS you, so unlock and attack in all directions to really mess up their playstyle.

Anyway, I would say you should by your own style rather then trying to play offensive if you're not an offensive player. You could play a little more aggressive, but trying to change your playstyle may not work out well.

my best advice is be unpredicteble.
if i use my dragon build i use the dragon weapons and go crazy with their specials, people freak out when i go full dragon, also heavy wepons if you can use them its intimedating dragon greatsword does this job well and people will not take you serius while using it, but if you can aim with it its the deadliest dragon weapon.

so to sum up: be unpredicteble, go "hollow" and try to be scarry.
follow these tips and you can become the dangerus crazy guy hidding in the swamp.

use the run button a lot for running atts, seems to over pressure people into making mistake it ur constantly running at them. Just make sure ur run doesn't go past them and get urself backstabbed. Also make sure you have a weapon that has a horizontal running attack so that if they do try and circle around they get hit (great swords are great for this). Another version of this is to use a dex weapon with flip ring and just pressure them with flip/attack flip attack over and over. Buffs also increase the pressure and forces the person you fight into playing defensively or risk taking a hard hit. However! they fastest way to force pressure out and go pure offense is to get urself a buffed Shotel and just R2 until the person sends hate mail

No, You have to learn to parry a parry, and parry a Riposte. 

They think they have you, they deflected your attack, and hit r1, then wham, You cheat and parry them. MUAHAHAHAHA.

That may just be impossible enough to work!

People here have summed up the most important points when being aggressive pretty well:

stay unpredictable and keep on the pressure without doing stupid moves that get you backstabbed or parried.

One little note from me (I'm known as hyper aggressive player too) keep an eye out for you stamina management.
I know most of the players use green blossoms to completely ignore the stamina management aspect of this game, but if you are like me and don't rely on the "grassing", you need to learn how to manage your stamina when being aggressive

the croranthe ring is good but you can also use the child mask for stamina.
or grass chrest shield, i dont use greens myself so the ring is good but only if you dont have any better rings.

It doesn't stop stacking. The highest stamina regen you can get is 185% increase with mask, shield, cloranthy, and green blossom. Unless you're dual wielding grass crests if so kudos to you sir
