New Forum Layout!- Suggestions and Bugs

Hey all!

I'm sure you've noticed the interesting new additions to the site. All the widgets on the side have been chosen because we feel they will be useful for you all- as well as to give exposure to things such as the currently underused calendar and the Fextralife feed.

If you have any suggestions for widgets you would like to have on the site, please post them here.

Also, if you may see any problems or bugs with these widgets, please take a screenshot and post it here so they can be dealt with.

Hope you all enjoy utilising these new features, and thank you for the assistance in bedding in our new layout

The tabs on the profile section now don't quite fit:



Obviously it's an extremely minor problem, but thought it was worth telling you

lol. I just feel sorry for our OCD friends who may be trying to use their laptops like a touch screen to move that final tab back to where it belongs

Can we have an option to remove it?

I appreciate the hard work that went into it, but the way my brain works it's too much stuff on the screen at one time for me, it's almost an eye sore to look at :l

It feels like I moved into a new apartment.

EDIT: Also, smilies are not appearing for me... (on mobile)

EDIT2: That smilie was added with me taking it upon myself to insert colon and open paranthesis.

Its a nice change, I just wish the main forum/text bit wasn't so narrow.

I have to agree, it really is a bit much. It's distracting and hard to focus on. Could we at the very least move it all to the one side, so it doesn't make the whole page seem busy?

No way.  Re-scan that E-Bot.  There must be some kind of critical error.  Right?

To all dissenters I suggest you give a bit of time and see if you can get used to it. Fact is it's so differently you may be taken aback by it. Get used to it first, then see if you don't like it or not.

But in my opinion this is most useful for newer members who don't know their way round the site- stuff like fextralife feed, calendar and recent posts are probably invaluable to help them integrate into the community and get them used to the forum and everything the community we have here has to offer.

Actually, now that I've spent a little time with it.... I hate it. I really do. It's the combination of so many things, the fact that some things are auto updating (which naturally attracts the eyes) so you have to fight against that if you're looking at something else, and it makes the whole page look very cluttered, and overly detailed.

What everyone else said. The page is now too cluttered. Can we move the stuff on the left to somewhere that isn't as obtrusive?

If it's the type of thing that can give us a headache... I have a feeling any newcomers won't like it. It would probably make them feel bad too.

It doesn't fit with the forum theme, or background if you will and ruins the layout on both Chrome and PS3 browser.

Why is there a calendar? You got one in your phone, or other mobile device, one in your PC, or console that you visit the forum from and probably even one old school paper edition at home. Why do we need another one here? Answer: We don't.

That scrolling Fextralife whatever at the top. I don't mind that at all, it's not as disturbing as the stuff on the side, plus I can turn it off if I want to.

DkS 2 preorders on DkS forum? AdBlocked. The other ads that vanish once I sign in are ok, but even though this is Souls related, I don't want to see ads. Anywhere, for whatever reason.

Latest topics is a good idea, but we already have the flame icon next to the book of the guilty icon, no? It's hard to understand for me too and doesn't show topics I'm interested in.

Community articles. DkS 2 Beta codes. Nice. PS App and you? wtf. Bikes are awesome? I guess, so, but why is it here in the first place? Skare's 10 minute game reviews? Why? I got IGN, Gametrailers, and MANY other already proven and reliable sites for reviews. No offence Skarecrow.

Most viewed topics? Most of them are not interesting to me, plus I don't care what is viewed the most. Unnecessary.

Changes unnecessary, ruin layout, difficult to navigate, chaotic with the rest of the forum, not welcomed by me and will blocked if not removed. Done.

Here's my opinion on the new changes. Hope you don't like it just as I don't like these changes.

The community articles is a direct feed from fextralife. It's meant to increase exposure.

Plus since we already have an off topic section it's hardly out of place.

The calendar is meant for events and other forum organised stuff. At the moment it's under used and I think fex is trying to give it more exposure and hope it is utilised more.

I'll wait a few days before I give my full opinion on it. As of right now, I don't like it, but I normally adjust to these things like nothing ever happened. (i.e. YouTube).

DANM this is good! I'm in love with the latest posts section!

Mind you, I'm a tired and lazy (much more lazy) person, having quick access to stuff its really a thumbs up for me
