can i join the forest covenant, kill the guy for DWGR, then imediatly join the chaos covenant? or do i need to absolve my sins in between? cause i read theres no betrayal punishments for forest covenant.

also, if i kill the leader of a covenant, and absolve my sins, is it possible to join back? ( mainly talking about chaos covenant since i want that firekeeper soul )

You can kill him then join the Chaos Covenant, you cannot kill the White Spider Witch and rejoin the chaos Cov, the option will be gone since she is required.

there is a punishment for betraying the forest hunters. If you kill or attack any of the hunters and go to Alvina before absolving your sins she will disappear and you will not be able to rejoin.

    Just to sum everything up:
1.If you join the Hunters, then kill a hunter, you are kicked out.
2.Leaving any covenant without going to the pardoner of Velka in the church bell tower(Betraying the covenant, joining another covenant) will result in a sin. (If you abandon the chaos servant, you will be infected with egg head.)
    3. Sins do not mean anything unless you are human(For the most part), as they will call the Blades of Dark Moon to kill you.
    4. You can enter any covenant you want after abandoning/betraying a covenant without having your sin abolished(Other than if you kill Gwenevere. You will not be able to enter or re-enter the Dark Moons on that play-through even if you abolish your sins).

Actually if you kill Gwynevere you can rejoin the Darkmoons if you abolish your sins.

For forest hunters, only NPC hunters will get you kicked out, killing player ones does not. Also you can abolish and rejoin after killing a forest NPC, but if you talk to alvina before abolishing she'll leave and you can't rejoin until you go to NG+.

Also the egg for Chaos Servants leaving is a chance thing, it doesn't always happen.

Leaving the Darkmoons will actually get Gwyndolin mad at you, but it is chance like the Chaos Servants.

Odd. I read somewhere that you were not allowed to rejoin as long as Anor Londo is dark and it only goes back to normal when you NG+(I myself have never killed her due to the fact that I am always in the DMs).

I've been able to rejoin after killing her before, though I typically don't make my Anor Londo dark because I'm not a big fan of PvP there.

I like fighting in Anor Londo. It's one of the reasons I joined the DMs.

Well in a bit I'll probably be doing some work in Anor Londo to lend tactics to the Dark Moons in their thread, as well I need a small break from the forest after all those invasions haha. Though I'll be on the invading side of things so I still won't really have a need for a Dark Anor Londo.
