Tomb of Giants Co-op

One interesting place I've never done co-op, but I saw a summon sign there the other day, so I'm thinking of putting down my sign. Summoning failed, btw. Looking for help/advice/stories about your co-op experiences there.

Where do you put down your sign? Do hosts usually summon for the boss or for items? SL recommendation? Are invasions common there (I'm rarely human in ToG), and what are the invaders' common tactics?

I see the most summon signs at the first bonfire. In fact, that is the only place I've seen summon signs.

Ive seen a few at the second bonfire at sl 75, but at 50 there were absolutely none.

Not once have I ever seen a sign there. But I'm only there around sl80 and over 120 (granted that was once)

I'm also rarely human in ToG because the place is annoying enough without DWs and DMs.

^Ha!^ My thoughts exactly. That's why I was surprised to see a few posts about co-op there (a certain sunbro comes to mind...).

I can't imagine doing ToG human--at least not before that last bonfire, when you know you're going to get Pal Leeroy--but since apparently some do I figure I'll help light their way with my very own headsun. At least until some jerk Wraths me off a cliff

When I was sl63 I got summoned at the first bonfire quite regularly (every 2-10 minutes?) so people do indeed go human in the TOG apparently

I've never been summoned at the beginning of the level, where you think people would welcome the opportunity to follow someone through the darkness.

The only time I have been summoned is at the second bonfire or inside the final room with the Pinwheels. I usually drop my sign there while I'm farming for humanity.

I have a toon there at level 75.

I am summoned at the second bonfire regularly. I also invade there with the same guy if summoning is a little slow, (I'm an *** I know, lol), and I see many MANY phantoms and sunbros.

There is a huge amount of summoning going on in the tomb.

People are going to play human to get Leroy and if there is a summon sign waiting when they do so why wouldn't they summon...?

If they don't I will probably be killing them with my Darkwraith.

In fact many times I have killed a host, and if I get less then 6 or 7 thousand souls I assume we are close in soul level so I will put my sign down after that, and often times that same person has summoned me moments later.

With that said, I also have a lot of high level invasions there. I get 15 to 20 thousands souls for killing hosts there more often that anywhere else I think. (My regular invasion places are Anor, Demon Ruins and the Tomb).

I started invading there because I hated the place so much on my first couple of playthroughs and I figured invading would really get me used to the place. And I was right. I love the tomb now.

For people who don't know already, you can get to the second bonfire in about 2 minutes from Firelink.

Look up the videos on youtube if you don't know the shortcuts to drop right down the catacombs, and then most things in the Tomb can be run right by.

I summoned a lot from the first bonfire, 'cause I hated the skeleton dogs
Then I learned how to run past them. But never saw many summon signs, 1 or 2 max

lextune - I usually equip the fog ring and run past everyone in that level. I'll have to check on the shortcuts and get those down. I hate that level and usually don't do it unless I have to.

As far as summoning signs, it is hit or miss. Last night, I was down there, 120, and saw one sign, but it disappeared quickly and didn't come back.

Quick bump to point out that my level 75 has been summoned half a dozen times in the last hour tonight.

....you never get more happy grateful messages than when leading someone through the Tomb, lol.

speaking of, some of those guys are really motivated!
I saw one guy cast WotG 6 times in the Undead Parish, can't recall if he was a DM or DW.
