Re: There's more to them
I Think Jeremiah is the Old Monk but before he has travelled back to Latria?? or actually scrap that theres the huge tower in PW, perhaps all that is left of Latria, Priscillas arena reminds me of old monks without the chairs etc... Possibly Latria = Painted World?
Bear in mind this is a lot of speculation... Although actually it could be a hero from Demon's Souls that painted the PW and he had obviously seen the Old Monk???

The director has already said that Demon souls and Dark Souls are completely diferent worlds. There may be links and similarities but they are not related.

Re: There's more to them
Well if we do Ingward I think we should all the sealers because that should also give us some info on lautrec. And there origins will be similar so lets do this. Ill start with some questions - What are they? WHere are they from? Why did 2 of them leave? Why is Ingward still there?

Re: There's more to them
I know the one who created the spell remedy seems to be the same one in Btown. I can't remember her name but I can only assume the the sealer gear you find on the body must be from the person who created Remedy.
Given that there were only three or four of them. It should be mentioned on the Seal Key of on the armour.
Perhaps the four knights became the four sealers?

Re: There's more to them
Pretty sure there are only 3 sealers. The one in Btown left her post to become a healer for the Btown residents. Makes sense for her to have made remedy.
"Sorcery of the red-robed Yulva, one of the Sealers of New Londo.
Reduce bleeding and poison build-up, and undo various poisonous effects.
One of the New Londo's unique healing sorceries. Perhaps she
abandoned her Sealer duty to take her healing arts back to Blighttown."
The second left with Lautrec for some reason to hunt down DMs. This one intriguues me.
And then you have ingward. The only one to keep his post. The most dedicated. Why is he still there? What keeps him there? Posiible link to Beatrice?

"Key to the floodgates of New Londs, which seal away the Four Kings who fell to Dark.
The Sealers flooded New Londo to banish the Darkwraiths and the Four Kings. The agonizing decision was made with the realization that countless lives, and the robust culture of the city, would be lost. The victims now roam the ruins as ghosts."
"The ghosts of New Londo clutch this wickedly sharp dagger with their bony hands and make mincemeat of the living."
"One of the cursed weapons which can inflict damage upon ghosts."
"Jagged blade wielded by New Londo ghosts. Violent thrust attack.
One of the cursed weapons. Inflicts damage to ghosts."
"Armor of the sorcerers who flooded New Londo to seal away the Darkwraiths, and the Four Kings who descended into Dark.
Mask- It symbolizes their resolve to keep the seal shut forever and their atonement for all who were sacrificed, but two of the three forsook New Londo upon tiring of their duty.
The Sealers were once known as healers, and the bright crimson was a symbol of that."

"Catalyst of the banishment sorcerers who flooded New Londo to seal off away the Darkwraiths and the Kings who fell to Dark. In contrast to other catalysts, the metal catalyst qualifies as a weapon, as it inflicts physical damage, however small."
Just thought I should post these here. Also, their set resembles a Plague Doctor. With that too, they are Banishment Sorcerers. At first I thought this meant they held off ghosts, but it could go more with being healers. They banish ailments from your bodies. As well, it says many ghosts clutch the knives to their bodies, which leads me to believe in suicide to avoid death via the DW and flooding. With that as well, the Ghosts inhabit many upper areas that weren't affected by the water, so why were they killed up there?

Re: There's more to them
How do you know one left with Lautrec?
Yeah Yulva was the one I was talking about. Perhaps she has some links with the White Lady, both of whom wanted to cleanse blighttown.
Also paradoxically it seems Blighttown was the home of healing sorceries and such.

Re: There's more to them
Theres a sealer with lautrec when you fight him. Good work tolvo. It does seem like the Sealers missed a spot. Perhaps the upper areas werent flooded with water but magic? The magic then reanimated the souls of the dead as the ghosts?

I'm still just trying to figure out what spawned ghosts, and why they can only be attacked by cursed items/people.

Re: There's more to them
Possibly their connection to the abyss? WHen Artorias "fell" his sword became cursed. The people of new londo would have been touched by the abyss due to the darkwraiths/four kings so perhaps most of the population is cursed. The city itself is not cursed as the ghosts can move thorugh it. So a cursed weapon either is imbued with a small measure of the abyss or exists in the abyss and real world simaltaneously allowing the ghosts, who exist only in the abyss, to be hurt by them.

Re: There's more to them
That also explains the ghosts. Their corruption due to the abys caused their souls to exist in the abyss and real world. When their bodies died their soul still existed in the abysss so their soul continues to haunt the world.

Makes sense in regards to the abyss, then how would they have the sprites that are also found in the Catacombs?

Re: There's more to them
Now Im probably wrong but I think i saw somewhere that Acidic said they drifted up from the abyss into the catacombs. Of course I cant find the evidence I need soooo ...
I will ponder this for now.
Its been 10 days since Acidic posted in his thread. Wow.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have proper access to a PS3 right now.
And that would make sense, we don't exactly know how the layout is, as well there are bottomless black pits in the Catacombs.

"Sorcery of the red-robed remedician Ingward, guardian of the seal in New Londo. Sacrifice humanity to undo curse.
Abhorrent curses eat away at the core of one's very existence, and cleansing oneself of curses is no easy task indeed."
The Xanthous crown gives 35 curse res but none of th eother set pieces do. Odd.

Hmm, I wonder if maybe he's also trying to use this spell to remove the curse of the ghosts, or at least figuring out a way to.

What about Patches? He's basically a direct tie-in, isn't he? (I haven't played DS...)
