Oscar Build - Astora's Straightsword, Crest Shield, Elite Knight Armor +5. What stats?

I want to make essentially a copy of "Oscar" to play and eventually PvP with.

Equipment: Astora's Straightsword
Crest Shield
Elite Knight Armor

Seeing as FTH will probably be leveled quite high, don't see the harm in throwing in a talisman of some kind in there either.

My question is what you guys think my stats should be at 120. I'm pretty much completely new to PvP in this game, thus lacking the knowledge of how to build for it. If you have any suggestions on in what order to level them on the journey there, it'd be appreciated as well I just really love that armor and simplistic sword and shield style/appearance. Wanna practice it and "main" it or whatever

what about this? not the most original but you can use a lot of straight swords with 16 str/dex. my faith build has 28 str and no dex.

to make the most of the sword...you'll want something like this

40 vit
40 end
12 att
27str
30dex
base res
base int
30 fth

this'll let you two hand the sword for max str scaling bonus before diminishing returns and get a good bonus off of dex and faith, the faith will let you cast greatheal and wrath of the gods, the two utility spells you might need.

How about 40 Dex / 30 End.

Edit: He could also have 40 faith for maximum Magic AR scaling, if he isn't going to use Sunlight Blade then the 40 faith isn't so bad, canvas talisman gets 190 Mag Adj.

30 and 50 are the best levels to get faith to... 50 for true max ar before diminishing returns, 30 for majority of spells, and yeah less end would work well since the armor is fairly light..

I recommend getting Elite Knight to at least +9.

You'd be best off going hybrid is what I'm thinking. Something like this is what I have in mind, taking advantage of all the sword's scalings by going 40 into each Str/Dex/Fth, and using the RoFaP to make up for your losses in Vit/End. I also really like Sparkly's ideas with the spells, so I put those in as well. I left the second ring slot open because it's really all personal choice there, but what my mind is going towards is either Wolf Ring or DWGR.

oscar fat rolls.... with a straight sword though mobility is a must... i wonder if havels ring would bring you up to regular fast roll...
26.8 for armor+
6 for shield and sword
and +.3 for talsiman=
33.1

33.1x4 =
135 or so.

30 end gives you base 70 equip load
70+70% (havel+rofap)= 119...

40 end gives base 80
80+70% = 136...

so at 40 end you could have fast roll...

lvl 130 v.s lvl 120 isn't that different though

If you're referring to the build I put up then it still allows medium rolls :|

Here you go, the scaling is bad but you get maximum 396 AR with those stats. 24 End with FAP ring is more than enough, you don't have a large weapon, eat Green Blossom when needed. Substitute Wolf Ring with DGWR as needed, you won't get fast roll @ 40 End, so don't waste it.

Edit: Reaper's build looks pretty cool too. If I would use this build, it would only be for riposte, the AR is too low. So it's best to have more vitality for mistakes. Also be sure to spend 4 Slabs on that Elite Armor.

i found that with rofap and havels at 40 end he could fast roll! spent a while calculating... and reaper i just meant that the npc oscar fat rolls, or at least he does when i've seen him.

Yes he fat rolls lol, little endurance maybe he has lots of vitality and 40/40/40 str dex faith, respectively.

Wait Elite Knight can be upped past +5? ...Assuming troll? If not, obviously highest upgrades for all equipment.

I'm liking the idea of 40/40/40 STR/DEX/FTH. RoFaP and DWGR is probably what I'd go with seeing as I'd need to put a decent amount of points into END for rolling. That being said, the END would also be good for stamina obviously, so I dunno. It is a big point hole, though...

Not to sound antagonistic, but why not just go with a medium roll and DWGR if you're aiming for fast rolls? With your build here you're basically just cutting out 32 AR from the weapon to get the <25% roll, and with a weapon this weak you'll want everything you can get :|

Also if you got 27 str and you parry, riposte 2 handling the sword you get same AR as 40 str one handed riposte, you just have to practice. Also for backstab if you are playing in the outside world.

i've just had better experiences with the fast roll than i've had with the dwgr is all. whenever i try to evade traps in sens with the dwgr the shots hit me, but with fast roll they go over my head.

In this situation though, wouldn't it be better still to do the two-handed riposte with 40 Str?

It increases 3 AR only :/ with 40 str 2 handed.
