No Console DLC!

I found this articale this morning and thought i needed to share this with the board. According to this piece, Namco has stated that they will not be releasing the additional content of the new PC version onto the consoles.

I find this deeply disappointing. I understand them wanting us to purchase a copy of the PC release and exclusive content is a good selling point. But why should my faithful PS3 not recieve the same content? Especially with the over 500 hours i have already spent, enjoying the hell out of this game(When i am not throwing my controller and swearing at the TV).

If the petition to bring it to PC was so successful we may have no choice but to follow suit or be left with last years model...

Awful news, unfortunate Namco have tried to reel in the content for PC gamers only, from should put their foot down and make them release it for consoles too, or else FROM will lose support from their fanbase

Yeah no dlc will kill it for me really dont want to get it for pc (because i plan to get skyrim for pc) but you got my sign this would be insane to not let all the fans that have stuck with this game to lose this new content

A console version of the 'prepare to die edition' and/or DLC, will most likely happen. But because of potential PC sales they will probably not be announced until after the PC port is released.

This was my first assumption also. It's usually how developers end up doing things like this

lol...yeh its pretty much bout the $$$$ that they need to keep running i like to think they will release a dlc for sure for the reason it will be another big income but it will be realy realy stupid if they dont well more disappointing then stupid :| i mean why not?? why??

I also hope and assume that will be the case eventually. But can we really take that chance?

I am sure most of us signed the PC petition regardless of wheather we had the intention of buying it. We just want everyone to be able to experience this masterpiece. But for them to possibly bypass the people who have made this series so successful and profitable is an insult. We need to make sure that they are aware of how we feel, the best way to accomplish that is through the petition.

As they say "There is strength in numbers".

Put simply, If it turns out that the new stuff doesn't come to the console, Its highly unlikely I will buy anything either company does for a very long time. You try to milk me for a few extra dollars by trying to limit my experience otherwise, I stop buying your games entirely.

Companys need to learn, We have other ways of amusing ourselves, and that we choose to spend money on their product is a privilege, their privilege, because we can spend that money any number of equally entertaining ways. As a privilege, if its abused its taken away.

eh, the way that was worded sounded quite a bit like: yeah we say there won't be. but really, we are just pulling your strings to make you clamor for it even more, and then when we finally let you have it, you shall weep with joy. WEEP!

I would dearly love to sign the petition because I see this decision as a slap in the face for all the people who have bought not only Dark Souls but Demons Souls also. However, I regret I will not be doing so for the simple reason that I do not want my name/e-mail address/postal address displayed on the Internet. There are just too many unscrupulous people out there, who might take advantage of this information.

I signed, we shouldn't have to buy a whole new version I am not happy about this.

They will bring it out, even if it is a new disk. I really doubt they would turn their backs on consoles at this stage. They can get even more hype and publicity doing it this way, I would say their marketing department is doing a great job.

Regardless of whether we think it's a sure thing or not, it doesn't hurt to sign the petition anyway. It took less than 5 minutes.

Slake my dear friend, you can choose to not have your information posted up on the site, though it will most likely be stored.

Thanks for that Serious but I've learned the hard way that it's not a good idea, so I'm out on this one.

Dummy accounts? you don't have emai addresses you don't check, and with fake information specifically for things like that?

That's unfortunate Slake, but considering Dark has sold over a million copies I'm sure the petition will go over just fine anyways

It is great to see all the replies. I was worried no one would read this as it is my first post.

And I am glad that I am not the only one that would be disappointed, if Artorias was not curbstomping me on PS3.

I also totally agree with Serious. We can all do our part and we can't rely on someone else to do it for us.

I'm going to reserve my disdain until sometime after the PC release, about 2-4 months. If Namco and From decide not to patch it over, either in DLC or in a new disc, worth less than full price. They can kiss my respect good bye.

That said, I am going to wait and see where this is headed. I am not going to dance for them by signing a petition, because they should not have to be asked. Their fans on the consoles are the REASON they can release a PC port, there is just no logic to them holding an apple over our heads and expecting us to act like nothing is wrong with that.

Hopefully with or without me there will be DLC, but I have to admit I have wavering respect for these groups now, they're walking a shaky bridge.

Ok, Namco are just taking a dump on their biggest fanbase. I for one will be boycotting all further games until a full DLC announcement is made WITH an apology to the console fanbase, and I urge all serious gamers to follow suit.
