First day in the gravelord covenant! Empty First day in the gravelord covenant!

Post by Dark Thorleif Wed Apr 18, 2012 6:04 pm

First impression of this covenant is: Awesoooomeeee! I took my lvl 18 experiment and her 3 eyes to the parish in hopes for some even pvp. First summons was a disappointment at first. Some mage dude who wouldn't engage me after he spent all his spells. I hurt him a bit, he ran in and healed by the mobs with humanity and I with flasks(can't remember who started the healing so I won't blame him) and on it went, for a ungodly amount of time.. After a while I got invaded by a second spirit of vengeance and things got more interesting. I generally suck at all forms of pvp but somehow I managed to kill the other invader, some guy in heavy armor and earned my first eye. This is how I probably looked at that moment :affraid: :face:
The other mage dude was harder. I decided to finally take his bait and get aggro from the knights in the church, since otherwise this would drag on till morning.. I managed to kill the knights but took a fair bit of damage in the process but I was still in the game. Thats when I fubard everything with the help of a talisman. I had the talisman in my left hand trying to sneak in a heal when he managed to catch me with a backstab.. I then proceeded to panic and try and block with the talisman, resulting in two more healing attempts with him standing ontop of me.. Needless to say I died, got mad and manned back up.

The other 3 battles I managed to squeeze in tonight were all more fun, sportsman like and over more quickly. All with the same result, me picking my own pieces up all over the bell tower. Two of the last battles actually were against the same red panthom. But I made a new X-box friend in the process, had some fun and actually managed to get someone deaded in the name of Nito, so its all well and good.

My character is a lvl 18 cleric with +3 chainmail(the one bought by the vendor), the drake sword/astoras straight sword and a shield. It worked well so far(well for me is 1 kill and 4 deaths silly ).

A question thou, the frogs in the depths, do they drop the eyes often? In order to get more freakvent drops is it enough to just have a lot of humanity or do I also need to be in human form? Is there any place better that my measly lvl 18 girl can farm eyes for evil, despair and tomfoolery?

May I one day kill each and everyone of you ! //Dark Thorleif First day in the gravelord covenant! 3022602407

Being in human form does not cause you to find more items, having more humanity active does, up to ten humanity. Then with the Symbol of avarice, or Gold serpent ring. There is a cap to item discovery, so all three is just a waste. The Frogs drop them often, I usually get around three per run with max humanity and the Symbol of Avarice. Welcome to the Covenant by the way, in the Covenant Section you'll see there are some other gravelords around, I also Gravelord from time to time myself.

EDIT: By the way welcome to the Forum.

The basilisks in the depths have a much higher drop rate for the eyes of deaths since the patch. If you can make it to sens fortress and get the gold serpent ring, maybe the avarice helmet if you're lucky too, and 10 humanity you should get at least one eye every run.

with the astora straight sword you could go find the black smith in the catacombs for a fire weapon! also yeah... the only other place enemies drop eyes of death is the great hollow but that place is one giant pitfall thats really easy to lose your bloodstain in.

Welcome to the family dude. We need more fellows like you amongst out ranks. I love to Gravelord at low levels and as such have picked up a few tricks to use against Griefers there without having to sink to thier level.

One of the better ones is to get the Hornets Ring while its a bit cheesy a well timed parry against one of these DarkWraiths will not only net you an instant kill, and look good, but is very easy to pull off as most of them rely on r1 spams with lightning weapons.

Another is what I like to call treasure trove. You drop an item and then when they pick it up go for the BS. Again not the most honourable of tactics but when red phantoms keep interrupting your Gravelording its wise to show them no mercy (sorry to all you Dark Wraiths out there. Its not you it me.)

Then you follow up that by adding more treasures at various nearby locations. If a repeat invader comes they tend to pick up the treasure tajat tricked them again and then roll to your last hiding position. Boom you get that fool again with a nice assassination.

Other Parish tricks involve using the pillars. You can alert an enemy to your location by hitting one and then can move silently to another spot before they arrive making for a nice ambush.

There are more and they get progressively more clever and fiendish.

As a Gravelord you cannot show any mercy to the enemy as it is an exercise in survival. You can be polite and bow if you want duels ( I do this against new players only and to those who bow first to me).

Thanks for the quick replies and all the info happy Imma get on with farming eyes today and hopefully I'll be able to squeeze in a few curses before bed. I'm pretty excited about this covenant. Feels so... Evil in a fun way. Is there any way to tell if a enemy is killed by a black cursed creature or will I only know if I receive a butthurt PM?

Good work man. I made something like 30+ EoD's yesterday in the Parish and Burg. It feels so good to give the griefers a taste of thier own medicine.

But you should always duel the newer players with weak weapons so they can begin to learn how to pvp in future.

Often, I pop off an eye and just walk around without a single worry. The eyes keep active even if I switch area's, so I don't have to worry about other people loosing track of the curse. In addition, I can non-nonchalantly PvP without much in the way of worries pertaining to this kind of interaction, just by keeping several area's uncleared.

Is there any way ro ring the second bell without killing the gapeing dragon, I Dont want to lose that area.

Tonight has been grand! Ive so far won about eight fights, lost two. Question, does the eye curse migrate when someone logs off? Coz Im pretty sure ive killed four blues on one eye. Could be Im drunk also. Typeing this on à iphone so i light have missed a Word change or two.

    Love this covenant! ❤

Go through New Londo ruins and take the back entrance in, through the Valley of the Drakes.

When someone logs off, or leaves the area, you start cursing a new person.

Also, when do you other gl's draw the line? I've killed the same Guy 3 times and is starting to feel kinda bad. Granted he almost won the first fight and taunted me befor I went Nito on his *** and robbed me an eye. So he kinda deserved it for poor sportsman ship. But when does one draw the line? I have played eve online befor so i know all there is off being on the wrong side of griefing.

People typically draw the line at overly cheap tactics, standing near a spawn point with TwoP and WotG ready. But, if they are just flat out fighting you and you are flat out fighting them, there is no line.

dark moons can only invade sinners, i.e people who have been indicted or killed certain npcs, sin is not gained by joining the gravelords there fore darkmoons cannot interfere with a gravelord unless they do some cracked orb invading and upset someone, the spirits of vengence that do show up are the peole that the gravelord has cursed.

It feels more like trolling to be honest. I stated that the Dark Moons are watching (I'll clarify) the op as a joke and lizard has decided to chime in and try to tell me how it all works. "Watching" and "Invading" are 2 different verbs.

Factual and useful information is fine (I love it) but it just seems like the same few people that post right after I do only to condescend every little thing I say. I'm really just fed up with it.

However if Lizard isn't trolling and just wanted to clarify to the rest of the viewers how Dark Moon's work in a gravelord thread, I can and will retract my negative vote. I reitterate, it feels more like trolling at this point.

Well as a fellow gravelord and Princess' guard, I welcome you. My advice? Carry a dried finger with you in case of lack of blues, and get a good weapon against lightning, as it is the highest trend for darkwraith invaders, which you will probably see more than people you have infected.

As well, if you want to infect areas and make people's lives miserable, choose Sen's Fortress or Tomb of Giants, as they do a crucial amount of damage with black phantoms. if you just want to be invaded again and again, a less harder area such as lower undead burg would be suffice.

If you are ever gravelorded, take your time. Walk slowly and find all of the BPs in your area, so they do not one hit kill you. Even a black phantom hollow does the job of death against you if unprepared.

It will be hard at times to know whether you have infected or not. If you want to see the black phantoms as well, as well as fight them with consistency, try gravelording then putting your white sign down. That way, they can summon you and they will be permanently infected... until they are invaded by certain darkwraiths, which I have still not understand why they disappear due to darkwraiths at times. However, if you get summoned while infecting and their are no phantoms, then you probably did not infect and get summoned by right person.

You will infect three people in total, however their are times when I have seen a gravelord sign with no infection, so others might see it as well. However their are times when the infection will not show up until the player either dies or quits and reloads, in which the BPs spawn.

A heavy weapon would be adviceable, as the enemies you will face will be of HIGH health. When I say high, I mean high health. Backstabs will probably not help you at times, so hitting them again and again withs tunlock and heavy will help IF you are infected or in infected world.

For the miracles, try to give as much eyes as you can to Nito for extra damage from your miracles, as well as high faith. BE ADVICE that the sword dance is not always accurate, and is more straying than the fire tempest and storm, due to the swords able to overlap each other better than the fire pillars.

The Gravelord sword is a curved sword, so it is better against enemies of flesh instead of steel. However, it also does toxic damage, unique to only the gravelord sword. it does not scale very well, so do not try. Use two handed for better stunlock and the R2 for devasting lunges, as your enemies can go flying across the board. Similar to the R2 attack on Demon Spear, except faster and less stronger. Try to upgrade to +5 to make it a better weapon. The durability also helps so fixing it is not a problem until over use in a good amount of hours.

Good luck, comrade. Safe killing. When you fail, learn from your mistakes. if you succeed, remember it might not always work the next time.

Acidic, so far Ive only tried infecting people outside of the gargoyle church, since I know that place is very well visited and the chance to find pvpers of my skill level is more likely(I suck, baaad). So far I've actually been surprisingly lucky in summoning people. If I manage to kill the invaders I have gotten as many as five invasions out of one eye by four different people.

And the darkwraits havent been to heavy on my back either. I usually manage to get 3 or 4 blues for every red that comes along and oneshots me, so its been fun happy And when they do come along and oneshot me, if they invade again, they are usually civil and have downgraded their equipment to more match my level. So far I've actually made two XBL friends out of those DW's, both of wich who has given both advice, eyes, orbs and one guy even gave me a sword.

I'm migrating to another spot tonight but so far it seems I'm either too low a level to find anyone to infect or its just a slow night and the people I infect are either someplace else, dont know how what to do or are scared. sad

Oh and that thing about electric weapons.. Uhu, its defenately the DW first choice happy Sucks to be me but I'm still having fun happy
