My latest Build: Velka of Carim

So, I decided that I was going to make a character based around velka. I BB glitched my equipment over and I am using:
Velka's Rapier
Black Cleric Set
shotel
Velka's Talisman
Parrying dagger
and I just got Karmic Justic.

I find this to be fun as hell to play as. I'm definitely new to rapiers, but getting accustomed to them very well. Plus, playing Carim Style without using a shield is waaay different, but fun as hell

Can't wait to join the darkmoon and be a true destroyer of sinners.

I only ever use it to make builds. I hate people who use it for griefing, I actually use mine to anti grief sometimes by helping other players and killing off invaders that I know are bb glitchers

Ah, I just read that. If he reads this thread my friend was level 10 or so, using havels and a zweihander. Zweihander if found very early in the game, so the only thing he was using that he shouldnt of was havels, but even then, it wouldnt be hard to kill him, the guy was just wanting to get past him instead, so its not my friends fault really, its the guy he invaded.

Tap R2 with Velka's rapier, then roll away. It'll be a good whittling move.

It's actually against the official forum guidelines to discuss the BB glitch in any kind of depth. Going any farther than mentioning its name is an almost sure-fire way to get your thread locked.

On Topic: You should put this up against my Gwyndolin build sometime (when I finish it that is...darn you Harpies not dropping ears!) Which will prove victorious, Int/Fth or Fth/Int? winking

The bb glitch rage has allot to do with watering down a rather epic achievement. Its cheating and i don't care how much people like to roll play, its broken the sense of scale.

High level gear at a low level used to be the mark of a skilled and committed player, now it just means you have Google.

Indeed, I agree. I got tired of doing low level runs that i'd more then proven myself capable of just to get the gear an umpteenth time however, so take the glitch with a grain of salt.

Your supposed to work to get your build and i understand people got a little tired but it doesn't excuse such a huge structure destroying exploit.

I have no problem with trading between your characters and it seems to me that the system they already had in place worked fine as is. Get a friend and trade.

Honestly there is something goose bumpy about getting that legendary player to help you. That's dead now. How can a special player distinguish himself if not gear and armor? I honestly was so impressed the first time i summoned someone and he was wearing the Gwyn set and fire halberd.

I was like "who is this God?"

And when he was gone i looked for him the same way you'd look for tarkus et al. Thats what roll playing as an adult should be. Earned glory. If you wanna go play wolverine, go buy an xmen game, or alternatively man up and earn it.

I agree with what you're saying, take a plus one rep for that!
I usually BB-glitch over +0 gear when I do it. I wanted the gear so I wouldn't have to go find it, not because I wanted a +5 lightning weapon to own everything. A +5 painted guardian sword and painted guardian armor isn't gamebreaking essentially, yet a +15 PGS and +5 maxed painted guardian sets is a whole different matter. I think if people withheld a bit of self control and didn't BB over god gear all the time there would be far less to complain about. I started doing it since I started making builds that can't really operate well except with 3-4 different weapons, none of which you find early in the game. My favorite example is any character with 40 strength and 9 dexterity! There is practically nothing you can use, so I'm gonna send back a +0 weapon! especially one of those weapons I -could- get, if the enemy feels like giving his rare drop this time.

Yeah i understand, i just think they should patch the glitch and make it work on Ng+++++++ or something. that way its earned!

But then again i also think repair cost should be higher ha

Since this is getting dangerously into the "talking about the unmentionable glitch" I'll post some perspective questions before this gets locked.

First question:
Is it wrong to use the glitch to reduce pre-planned farming times?
Example: You are making an Oscar cosplay, and know you will be using the whole Elite Knight Armor set. Would it be wrong to transfer 15 Chunks and 2 Slabs to this character?

Kind of yeah. I understand we dont like to grind, but its about earning rewards. If you want to role play oscar my advice is to do what the game wants you to do and go earn it. Its quite a simple dynamic really, the game wants there to be weight behind the items and weapons. It wants there to be considered choices. If you make it so your just selecting them in advance, then why even bother having to dig em out. They might as well just give you everything from the start so that you can pick a class like COD.

Each toon is supposed to have its own journey and struggles associated with it.

No offense but i'm very unimpressed with your "oscar" build if all you've done is bb glitch and put on the clothes/ weapons. Your build would be impressive if there was no bb glitch because i'd be like oh its Oscar, not just some guy playing dress up, who'll be playing as Solaire tomorrow.

PLEASE "FROM" IF YOUR READING THIS KILL THE BB KILL IT WITH ACID AND FIRE

Lol I just like it when I RP my builds to see them in the gear they will wear for the rest of the game when i kill the Gargoyles and ring the bell.

It gives me the chills and makes me think about the possibilities out there for this character.

Look I can under stand why in you guys perspective it should disappear but what about me im a dad and I work a day job 8-5 with and hour's comute and not to mentions chore's dishes and other real life things that make dedication in the form of time impossible to do.

I probably have about 150 hours total over the course of several months. 100 in real game time cause the other 50 is where the game in in idle time while I do stuff.

So in my case I think it helps me enjoy all aspects of the game.

I ask you this question, why should you get the same privelage as somebody who is putting that much time in? Or more to the point reverse the role. Shouldnt the person who puts that much time in be allowed to gain a reward that distinguishes him from you? If this was judo, you wouldnt just say "oh i dont have time so can i have the best belt right now?"

I too can only muster 100 hours over about six months. But i dont complain, i want a system that rewards the dedicated. Not one that rewards me! Thats all. And no offence but if they built the game for the casual interest then it would be skyrim.

Im so tired of hearing people say things like "i just wanna enjoy all aspects of the game i paid for" Because honestly if that's the way games get designed then dark souls will be the last of its kind.

Why not just have the game start up, and you pick everything you want from a list and voila? There you go you have everything you wanted. I guarantee, you wont be playing longer than 40 hours. The point is i guess dark souls is a specific kind of game, and the bb glitch just spoils a very cool dynamic within the game. If i was in charge that sense of real world role play would be intact and the bb glitch would be dead and buried.

Diablo's respec system is a prime example of that. i dont think they realise how thats going to kill the lifespan of its game. But oh yeah i just remembered, better to have 200 people buy it and play it for an hour than have 100 people buy it and play it for a year.

To answer your question because its a game not life’s mission and having a game is about enjoying it to the fullest in whatever form it comes not in the form that a single individual wants.

And if it was Judo (its kinda stupid that your relating a game to real life) then I would expect the normal progression of things, however dark souls is not real life its a masterfully crafted video game that holds the hearts of many video gamers.

P.s I could still kick your *** at judo as well. twisted

^ This. I only ever use the BB glitch for the sake of time. And as Bane said it's a game. Not real life. The whole point of a game is for the person who bought the game to enjoy it. If that means BB glitching for everything, or playing through DkS naked with nothing but a parrying dagger so be it, thats their choice not yours.

@Eolan: Some quick rebuttals here. First, is it really that much greater of an accomplishment to say "yeah I spent 12 hours killing Darkwraiths over and over so MY armor would be +10?". And if it's not being used to twink out a toon, how would you know? Back to the Oscar cosplay, how would you know that it was BB glitched since it doesn't use any obviously unobtainable gear?

Second question:
Is it wrong to BB glitch to do a run for role playing purposes?
Example: You are making a Gwyn cosplay, and transfer a Soul of Gwyn (to be turned into the great sword upon reaching Anor Londo) and the robes so you can do a dry run from level 1 as the character.

In my honest opinion, no it's not. I do this type of stuff all the time. I simply appreciate having the basic +0 gear on me from level 1, so that I can more easily pretend I am the person, and not just playing dressup. It honestly takes away from the roleplay for me if I have to first play 4-6 hours as a different character first. I only have a problem when people start transferring 20 billion souls, maxed out gear, and 99 slabs.

Awesome side not. I was hosting/cosplaying as the Ring of fog knight in the forest while I was apart of the forest cov and my invaders couldnt find me for like 20 min and when one did kill me he sent me a message that it freaked him out when I started attacking him cause he thought that my games Npc's were after him.

You may trust yourself to use it as a time saver, but that doesn't mean you can trust everyone else. And to be frank with you both, everyone else is using it for very different reasons.

Also thats an innane comment. Its a video game....

Yeah its a video game. So tomorrow im going to hack it and get all my fun at the expense of others. Is that ok? By your rules i can also use the headset to shout rascist obscenities, because im trying to enjoy myself to the fullest. I cant because there is a community involved. And with a community comes an economy of rules.

And as far as it being a video game, it is a hobby with a set of rules put in place by the game designer. If these rules are glitched around then the system loses its balance. Its like any economy, if you find short cuts there are consequences.

The bb glitch, is a glitch. it may have been allowed by popular demand, but my whole argument is that we shouldnt give in to popular demand. Thats what makes dark souls feel good to play. A set of rules that damn the players wants.
