Enchanted crossbows?

Soo, here is the deal: I have already given the enchanted ember to Rickert. I have a magic heavy crossbow +5 on me, and several blue chunks, but Rikcert does not offer the item for enchantment under modifications Am I doing something wrong? Or you can't have enchanted on crossbows?

Iirc you need to get it to magic +10 with the large magic ember in Dukes Archives

I dont think there are any magic damage bolts, dont waste your ores. IE: if you modify a bow/crossbow into elemental, you need to have the matching arrows. So lightning bow +5 needs lightning arrows in order to do proper lightning damage. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

no you don't need corresponding arrow other wise my lightining longbow would only do 106 dmg not 250 something, but the effect of an elemental bow is increased by using elemental arrows,
oh and you can't enchant path the crossbow because enchanted weapons main feature is higher than normal int scaling and crossbows have no scaling, better to stick to magic+10

i think there is a second modifications tab for enchanted stuff because there was one for me when i got my MSGS to +11

Not true, that thing about matching arrows and bows with the same element is a lie. Check my post for more details on my research:

Also to do a Enchanted weapon, you need a +5 magic weapon, not a +10 magic weapon, I think that (for some reason) Crossbows can't be upgraded to Enchanted.

By proper damage I meant the max possible damage output from a bow. The +5 lightning bow will damage a foe, but using it with lightning arrows enhances it's effectiveness. Or any better arrow than the wooden one for that matter...

note that there are only lightning bolts no lightning arrows, but there are also poison and fire arrows

Crossbows can NOT be upgraded to enchanted, occult or chaos.

yeah because those are all scaling based upgrade paths, occult gnerally has a rank faith, enchanted has a rank int and chaos scales with humanity, crossbows cannot be allowed to scale do to their main function being their high base damage

Thank you all very much for the answers So magic +10 it is! Or is there a better option assuming an int build? (it's not my primary weapon of course, but it comes so handy sometimes!)

Surely you'd be better off making it lightning +5 or something, rather than wasting a blue slab on a weapon with no scaling? Most enemies are more resistant to magic damage than lightning anyway.
