Even the Dark Gods themselves do not believe this... Acidic became hollow...the poor man... lets take some comfort knowing he lived well till his last findings.

WHAT... HAPPENED????
I took 1 year, ONE YEAR, to read everything that my friend posted here and in other threads, I had 50% finished and now he's gone? and everything he posted is gone as well??
Please tell me you're joking Acidic. Tell me you're waiting for Dark Souls 2 release and tell me that you saved all that info. please!!

Relax Carphil perhaps he's taking a well earned break. Think about it if you spent so much time looking into the meta and beyond this game and write countless long in depth posts wouldn't you feel exhausted? Give it time he might return.

Umm generally when people take breaks they dont delete all the work they've done so far. i think we can assume he's not coming back.Soris Ice Goldwing wrote:Relax Carphil perhaps he's taking a well earned break. I know that, just trying to slowly let that sink in because I know he had a lot of influence here. Shame though I did want to see if he could help me on a long study of the dragons here.

Re: The Search for Lore
He's moved on for good and so should we. It's time for a new person to take up the torch for lore. Surely he was not the only one perceptive enough to parse out the intricacies of this game's world. I would love to see a brand new collaborative approach to this. You are all quite capable.

Re: The Search for Lore
If thats really thr case, I think its better to leave his remaining posts alive, he may have wrote "Forgotten" in the first page but he will never be forgotten for what he did.
I'm sure that we can help and keep the lore going, after all, this is what Dark Souls lore is, we make theories, we find evidence, and we write the story.
If Dark Souls 2 follows the same Lore concept, I'll do the best I can to help.
Long Unlive Acidic Cook!

Re: The Search for Lore
With utmost respect for Acidic and his work I would still disagree. His take on the knowledge is gone but the game only provides so much info. The rest is speculation. He worked damn hard on his speculation but in the end came to the same validity as anyone else. His contribution wasn't knowledge. His contribution was to encourage others to think about the game and present ideas based on evidence and logic. He wanted his readers to think for themselves and the loss of his posts forces that. It reinforces his contribution not diminishes it. The biggest gift he may have left is for others to want more.
Now go get it!

Well...you are right and we all gotta admit it was damm good speculation, since we can never be sure of anything in Dark Souls, with some exceptions of course, his was the ones that I most agreeded with.
Acidic may have went hollow or simply moved on but one question is left unanswered...why erase all his work? there was no point in doing so! I wasnt even done reading...

Well said, I'll miss Acidic but I'm sure he would want us to find new perspectives of the Dark Soul's lore.
He also left us with a friend, Jimmy.
Now to head to the Archives.

Re: The Search for Lore
Forgotten what does it mean?.....Going through his post before he erased them leaves me wondering, but if I hold any creditablilty or worth being here I place it all for this: To be forgotten does not mean to fade, but to let the past rest. We have gotten to dependent by trusting him as the lore expert, when really everything here is nothing but speculation....Can we really know if one theory is right over another? No we cannot. We can only think, thinking that he would want us to revive. A new game means new mystery and lore to solve in addtion to the present. The great fire that Acidic made is now only ashes and embers. But from the ashes rises a new flame to grow and we shall be the ones to do just that. Yet to those who knew him and his work will always remember him.
My respect to the one who perhaps left the greatest mark to the community: Acidic Cook

Re: The Search for Lore
To be fair some of the old Lore people just don't like to discuss it with others any more, I'll admit I don't really like to go into the Archives much anymore unless it is something simple I can answer. It's a lot of work put into something few will see, and those who do will dismiss it then tell you why their view should be fact. It's a place to post where you won't be thanked and possibly will be ridiculed easily.
Perhaps that's why he left, he felt that people were ungrateful.

Re: The Search for Lore
I agree that the archives is not like the PVP section. And I agree that only a few people post here. But not everyone has time, patience, or dedication(in my case creativity) to post. But I'm sure more than sure that at least 50% of the old people in the forums read all these stuff.
Like I already said, I'll do my best to help when Dark Souls 2 come out and I know most of you will do as well, in honor of Acidic

Now that everyone has finished deifying him, I'll go ahead and lock this and move it to the tomb. As I said, time for new people to take the reins.
