A note on enchanted weapons Empty A note on enchanted weapons

Post by WyrmHero Wed May 16, 2012 3:57 am

I'm currently playing with a Dex/Faith build that focuses on Darkmoon Blade for fighting. When the buff runs out, I usually have a DSS or a Divine Claymore as a back up. So I thought, are enchanted weapons good as back up weapons for hybrid builds? I did some damage tests on reim with 4 versions of the Claymore. The Dex is 40 and 50 Faith, 16 minimum Str, 1 handed R1 swing.

    Claymore+15 = 187 damage :/
    Lightning Claymore+5 = 185 damage
    Occult Claymore+5 = 204 damage
    Divine Claymore+10 = 210 damage

So after these tests enchanted weapons really depends on the stats of your build and the weapon you want to use. I say these weapons need a buff in damage because many points are spent in faith/int to just do a tiny damage difference compared to their normal and elemental counterparts. Also there are weapons that are great being enchanted or elemental, like the claymore, which has low scaling. Enchanted weapons are perfect for pure faith or int builds which use buffs for their low AR or low scaling physical weapons.

Actually this makes me want to do a pure mage build with 50 Vit, 50 Int, minimum End for equipload and minimum stats for a good enchanted weapon. Also could use the Moonlight Horn and Greatsword....

I have a battle mage that I bring out to rumble with from time to time with the MLGS and horn which make a great one two combo. add velkas rapier which is under rated in my opinion and you can really wreck someone's day.

I actually disagree that they need a buff. Reason for my disagreement is that with stats in faith and intellect you are able to use spells and miracles to augment your fighting. If these weapons did as much as a str or dex built character, then why would anybody ever play a pure melee build?

what the hell is a light claymore +10...?

You'll have to use buffs with a faith/dex build to get significant damage, as the unique weapons for faith- grant and DSS, are not useable and not very powerful respectively.

just a note to add, the claymore is one of the best faith scaling weapons when upgraded to divine/occult, I'm surprised they don't do much damage at 50 faith.. But you sure as hell know that DMB claymore with +2 covenant rank will be crazy powerful.

ioni demon's souls they were awesome and a lot of people still made pure str builds, they suck right now and if they got a buff you would see more pure builds.

I don't think they will now, if another update comes, it'll be bundled in with the DLC when/if it's released.

the fact you put +10 made me confused about if it was lightning or not silly

Also, the fact it's that weak compared to occult and divine is... kinda good.

Yeah you could say that enchanted weapons are almost the same as their elemental counterparts, but this makes everyone to prefer elemental over enchanted because of the sacrifice in faith or int. To get maximum AR I think you need 50 faith or int.

    Good info! happy

Its got me wondering what the defense stats of your opponent were. I know I usually choose lightning weapons over magic based damage due to Ltng Defense being the more difficult to raise armor-wise, and especially against a high faith build since it also raises your magic defense.

As far as AR goes, I do know that with 50 int & 40 str that a +10 Magic Claymore actually has higher AR than a +5 Ltng Claymore, which I thought was cool happy although I don't think it was by very much.

Never did any damage comparisons between the two, but again it would boil down to the target's physical, Ltng, and magic defense stats to get an accurate comparison.

He was wearing Giants Chest, along with Giants Gaunts and I think Black Iron Leggings. SL 120.

@Entergluttony The +15 with DMB will win over the Divine.
