You forgot about the scaling, but they are pretty much equal except for the G.Halberd's added resistances. The Lucerne is...It's r1's are just not my type of attacks. But I agree that the normal halberd needs more love than it gets. and less love to the BKGA. Far to many of those bloated things >_>
I wouldn't know. My 2 hour of solo hosting in the forest with my no shield character was freaking awesome. Got some really cool people, a few who beat me, and all the rest were Drake Sword Users. I haven't done much PvP other than that.

Oh, and I was using a +10 normal halberd. It hits people from afar like a BOSS. Especially 2handed

Why is everyone doing that?! Hahaha! If anything, lend him 60 bucks. Done. He get his own game, you keep yours, and he eventually pays you back.

    1) he'd NEVER be able to pay me back (damn his... habits) and 2) I needed a break after I cracked my controller (not what you think, I sneezed and ended up chucking it out the window) so now the only way to use it is to keep it plugged in.

Ahh, yes. Rage. "I don't get angry, I simply rage at a game for a bit. I'm not held responsible for what I do while I rage." haha! I rage, too. But it's only after dying at S&O on NG+ on a dodge only character all because I didn't want to farm humanity. I killed solaire for his 2 humanity. I got noobs who thought it was normal NG, and I got invaded and killed. *sigh* anyway, no one blames you. We've all been there. I probably will be forced to take a break as well, but it will be, like, 2 hours.

I still need to get around to using this ring. This sounds nasty with an estoc or ricard's.

For faster weapons I can see it, but for the harder hitting weapons, I don't find it helpful. They kill everything in 2-4 non counter r1s anyways. I'd have to build for it if i wanted to use it.

I like the ring, although it's utility would be infinitely higher if it worked on more then piercing weapons.

Another "sneaky" advantage of it is surprise. Since you don't always land the timing, your thrusts don't always have the damage boost. So, you opponent may get a little lazy and try to exchange blows. Then, wham! A surprisingly huge amount of his health is gone. Even better since they may not know it was a Leo ring, and won't know how they got damaged like that (and will probably repeat the problem).

yes off hand thrust attacks do qualify for counter attack bonus.

edit: havent tested that weapon tho. i found daggers are much harder to land that counter with a thrust. priscillas has a good 2h rolling r1 attack that is thrust.

Leo ring + balder side sword is glorious, one of my favorites. Per its desc the BSS already gets a bonus to thrust attacks (i.e., R2), so if you time it with the leo it is sick. The R2 is faster than nearly all great weapon attacks, so you can bait a swing, R2 stab as it goes by, and then still get your guard up or roll back out before they get another swing off. It punishes would be stunlockers like you wouldn't believe. The range on the R2 is tremendous, and it is also very hard to get parried from middle distance or beyond, like a spear. I'm almost afraid to keep lavishing praise on the setup because I don't want to run into it myself.

Have you used it with an estoc? If so, how does it compare to the BSS?

Speaking of the estoc, I really want to make a build based on Velka's Rapier. Same range as the estoc, but more damage. I should see if someone's already come up with a good build.

Wouldn't it end up with less damage, since the damage is split. And since this is the leo ring thread, I should mention that leo ring only effects physical damge

Maybe if you're talking about the Leo ring, but I believe the leo ring has to do with all overall piercing damage. Which the magic probably does? Idk how that works. But, my point was that Velka's Rapier overall does more damage than the estoc. and I wanted to try out a build. It was fairly random.

i decided to start 2handing a spear last night and was going 0 poise with leo and rts. it was a great combo, i was taking out a lot of giants wearers in my 0 poise light armor. if i really needed poise, like if i came up against an aggressive gs user i could put on steel gauntlets and switch one of the rings for wolf and get 54 poise.

It also works quite well with an estoc, and I often have a backup estoc equipped to switch mid-fight because the two look almost identical and the change in movesets throws people off. Really depends on your preference, I just like the BSS a bit more because of its more adaptable moveset and the sweet range and tracking of the R2. I also find it much easier to fight unlocked with a BSS than with an estoc.

Thanks for the info, I'm a big fan of the BSS myself. It just occurred to me that the estoc + leo ring combo might have more damage in it when you consider the power of estoc crits, the easier countering with the estoc and that the basic AR of the weapons isn't that much in BSS favor.

What do you mean tracking of the R2?
