That moment when...

I've been playing this game for quite some time now and I've experienced tons of deaths.

But it still hurts my heart when I finally get all the way down in blightdown, zero flask, someone invades me, kills me and in the process of climbing everything down again, I get pushed off a ledge and lose 3 precious humanities and at least 5 SLs in souls.

So is there a moment in this game for all you bb glitchers, veterans and whatnot that played the crap off this game that still tingle the nipples of your heart, for bad or for worse?

I hate invaders. I usually get invaded on my way back to a bonfire. That's why I try to fight them near it so the bloodstain is not too far away.

If i play the game human I make sure I have almost nothing on me I spend every soul i have. I also make them chase me to make them work for my few souls. Lately though as I grow more confident in my character i have stood my ground.

I always spend my souls just in case lol, I hate it when I lose them so if at all possible I never have any unless I'm saving up (in which case I only travel in low risk situations)

I only play human when i need to co op to defeate a boss. 2 major times i wanted the invader to just crawl in a hole and die in real life. Once when i had a bunch of humanity and souls in s&o's arena, and i was waiting to see summon signs, and i get invaded... the other is way worse... i dont wanna talk about it

The Great Hollow still tingled my nipples, every time I go there I wish I could burn it down. If it wasn't for the dragon scales I would never go there.

Yeah, the great hollow... gotten to the point that i speed through that place trying to ignore the sparklies... must pick up... no! that thing equals death... must jump... "You Died".... a sucker for the sparklies...

Yeah, equally frustrating are the aforementioned crystal lizards. They are like huge floating hamburgers that taunt you into making leap of fatihs and impossible tracks just to try to get a bite from them....

I ignore all the sparkles there now. It's dragon scales for trading and dragon cvnt bonfire so I can warp for my slab latter on.

Yep, I got three Slabs my last trip down there.

That happened to me once too. I was literally frozen and the only thing that ran through my head was images of my character flying off the edge with ginormeous cartoonish eyeballs.
The humorous image was the only thng that didn't make me go amok

Another great one for me, wait around as human at second bf in dukes. Kill some invaders, summon some phantoms, take off for seath. Mis-judged invisible walkway and cut corner to soon. Send phantoms *facepalm* messages.

Despite all the qualities the gameplay of Dark Souls has, and fairness it gives each death (I mean: the gameplay is so tight, if you die, it's usually your fault), it's not perfect. You do get some deaths once in a while that are just total bs and through no action of your own could you have changed the outcome.

I was leveling a new toon for PvP once, going through NG and NG+ really fast to get him done as quickly as possible, and human at the same time. I figured, if I get invaded, that's just more souls for me! And for the most part, I was right. Was undefeated against all my invaders until I got to the Demon Ruins in NG+. Maybe I'd gotten over-confident, but I just think I expected too much honor out of my opponent. I was at Stray Demon's door when he spawned, but I figured I'd wait for him. In return for waiting, I expected a fair fight. My mistake... He DMBs his Katana, I wield my naturally aspirated PGS+15, and first thing he does is go straight for the lagstab. Long story short, the fight ended in a draw--we killed each other at the same time. At this point I was carrying 30+ humanities or so (I like to have 99 humanity on my PvP toons, so I raise my humanity while getting to SL120) and had enough souls for about 10 levels (I wasn't decided about where to spend my souls, so I'd saved up a few). On my way down to the bloodstain, maybe I got over-confident again, but here's what happened: I run down the stairs dodging all the fire-jabbas, roll under the Taurus's DGA, and get staggered by the Taurus... I'm not sure how. Anyway, next thing I know, before I've regained control of my staggered character, I GET SWALLOWED BY THE CHAOS WORM.

And insta-killed.

There go my 30+ humanities and 10+ levels.

I've lost 99 humanities at once before, and millions of souls, in even more serendipitous manners (a quit/ load glitch), but that might be the death that's stung me the most. Just because I was killed in a draw-match between me, with my PGS+15, and this lagstabbing Darkmoon with his DMB-Katana, and then insta-killed while I was dubiously stunned on the way to getting my bloodstain.

Anyways, I'm over it now! But I was not pleased by that insult over injury double-bs death!

My worst deaths now happen when I get my orientation wrong and accidently back my sorceror into a corner with 2 darkwraiths in front of me or something like that.

It makes me very sad...

Though I remember I was doing Sens and I got invaded and had a draw... I had to start all over and died again...
