The point was, its overly complex, especially for weapons.

I'm with sun, a list of banned weapons would work better. Btw, don't ban the zweihander. The great sword is so useless it isn't even funny, the range difference is huge.

It's a lot easier to ban weapons that clash with your cov's theme than it is to make a list of those that don't.

Yes I'm following! Stealing your power would be fun, doesn't help if you're host though silly

Wyrm can you PM me how to do that glitch? Sounds like fun!

Are the skill tests not enough? Incentive to rank shouldn't come at the cost of effectiveness. I'd find a different way.

Skill test it's like a graduation . The weapons should be the reward. I want to do the same with armors but they are more difficult to categorize and I haven't got time to sit and think about it. Golem Armor should be a rank 1~2 heavy armor.

still, you really dont want it to be such a hostile system at lower ranks that it drives people off, or so restrictive that people dont obey it.

Armors are far easier to do it with, it just requires full sets. (which I'm against as well).

I'm telling you, if I was a scythe specialist and you wanted to limit me to the halberd til rank 3, I'd walk away. Same with my dgm, if I had to use a greatsword until rank 3 I wouldn't bother.

What if we just changed the rank rules? Rank 1 is the bs test, 2 is basic parrying (ie non combat situation,) 3 is 1v3, 4 and 5 are limited in number (which is increased as we get bigger and excluding CMs, more 4s than 5s) The only way to be rank 4 or 5 is to unseat a current rank 4 or 5 member and adherence to the rules. Determined by a a set of best of 3 "invasions" where the host summons one party, who hides as the "host", then the real host summons the other participant and they hunt and kill each other. If its a tie, both winning one 2 of 3 contest, its a sudden death duel in the arena. As the "host"the first party may heal 20 times with humanity only, the "invader" gets 5, to simulate the disadvantage invaders have without eustus.

You are right on the specialist point. But if you wanna join us you have to learn to use all kinds of weapons. If you don't like using halberds you'll have to rank up. I'm not giving LH Scythes to recruits, I don't feel it's right... It's almost like the militaries of medieval times, the lower ranks get the basic weapons while the royalty (knights) get the classy and shiny ones. Same as armor. I think the skills tests are good as they are.

Of course getting the LH Scythe is completely optional and once you are rank 5 you can choose any weapons of the list. I think it's the best way to incentive people to rank up, even if they don't have any interest in the rank 5 tier weapons. There should be at least 1 that they would want.

It was more to give the ranks meaning, thus providing a reason to pursue them. It would mean that to be rank 4 or 5, you'd have to be better than most everyone so we don't just end up all rank 5.

As for the weapon thing, people born into noble families got nice stuff, everyone else got crap. Its a social construct. If we're in the pw to escape it, why are we emulating it?

In this case I'm giving them the opportunity to work hard for that weapon/armor they want. Now that you said that, the fighting for high rank idea could work if we got a high concentration of rank 4s and 5s.
