PvP Builds for Beginners Empty PvP Builds for Beginners

    Post by BLA1NE Mon Jun 25, 2012 1:05 am

Kinda late for these, I think... but I can't stop playing with the character planner, so I thought I may as well post these! I'm not gonna lie, I roll my eyes sky high when I check builds people created and the first thing I see is "DWGR & Ring of Fap"... but hey, some people do need every advantage they can get in PvP, so that's why I'm posting these builds for beginners. More advanced players will be able to create and use toons with less crutches, and toons that are much more interesting, but for those just starting out, these would be a good place to start:

    The Think Tank:
    http://tinyurl.com/7pkz4b9

Simple, just apply CMW, and switch to the MLGS when the buff wears off. Good build for beginners because it always hits very hard in melee, buff and no buff; allows you to experiment with 2 popular PvP weapon classes, the katanas and the greatswords; allows you to experiment with Int spells.

    The Human Torch:
    http://tinyurl.com/7bpd62u

Another one that allows you to experiment with a katana--this one arguably one of the best PvP weapons, no less. Hits very hard, but throw Power Within on top to give yourself an extra crutch. Oh, and you get to play with fire.

    Reah's Revenge:
    http://tinyurl.com/6sy6dqe

(Originally had the maiden hood on to go with the shirt, which would have looked more like Reah!) Mask of the Father so you can give yourself more Vit. This character will allow beginners to experiment with a Str weapon, as well as have the ever-reliable WoG at their disposal.

That's it for now. If you're just starting out at PvP, these will dramatically increase your chances of winning fights. I recommend you don't get too used to their crutches, though (DWGR, Mask, WoG, PW, buffs, pyro spam, GCS, etc.). Once you're getting comfortable at PvP, start thinking about ways you can make your builds more interesting, and challenging, and it'll make every win more enjoyable and rewarding. In the mean time, enjoy your beginner build!

The Sandman, in my sig, is awesome. If you're more specific, I can make one how you like, though.

I was looking at making a DEX build anyhow so I can work with your Sandman build as a template of sorts.

    Thanks.

Well, the one downside to the Sandman is that he can't use the Chaos Blade--the best un-buffable dex weapon... Here's a pretty ridiculously powerful SL80 Dex build:

Yeah that's a very good build. Pendant you'll start with uchi, then you know the rest.

These are builds for beginners, not made by. I decided MoM wasn't worth it, compared to the Big Hat, because of the huge magical defense it provides. Against DMB and CMW, and WoG too, magical defense is extremely useful.

I kid man winking any kind of build you feel we could use for this and I will try and come up with something (also 50 magic defence versus 10 SL normally what the MoM provides. Idk...)

Well, if you really want a MoM build:

Oh please, greatswords are the noob-tubes of Dark Souls!

But the build you just posted is good too, will allow them to get used to the BSS and to piercing swords (hopefully they don't get used to poking from behind the shield with it...). I assume one of the two HCSMs you attuned was supposed to be CMW for the BSS?

I made a slight modification to the one you just posted: http://tinyurl.com/8856bss

It was indeed supposed to be CMW and I thought that was what it was on my screen, and I suppose I cannot argue with the HP increase. you take that back! I will not have the good name of greatswords slandered! *gestures at your profile picture*

That guy is irrelevant--he's SL427, does what he wants!

Claymore = Dark Souls's ultimate newbie weapon. It's not slandering, just saying it's more accessible, because it's a great weapon (class).

Oh yeah no doubt they are accessible but fighting BS fishers is still interesting... I just got all offended when you compared them to noob tubes since I like greatswords winking flamberge personally though. I love catching people with the heavy when they try and rush in.

^You mean the 2H-R2? Man that move used to catch me off guard! When you're not familiar with the Flamberge's moveset, it looks like it should be a R1 attack, and then it destroys your poise and stun-locks you to death.
