I need some pyro basics
This is my first attempt in making a pure pyromancer, so I need some basics. Is poise really important? Adjust equipment but keep the Wanderer Coat and the Quelaag's Furysword.

Re: I need some pyro basics
My Gravelord pyromancer - swap what you want to the weapons of your choice, it looks cool, albeit having a bit low vit but if I use PW my GC hits like 1k and then if RTSr procs them don't get me started

Re: I need some pyro basics
I was talking about my build there and Wyrm, try Fire Surge with PW, it hits about 100 per tick, then if RTSr procs it absolutely destroys, especially if you do the trick where the flames re invisible

Re: I need some pyro basics
I found i actually have gotten a bit rusty when it comes to aiming my pyro ext, but when it comes to making pyro builds thats most of what ive been doing in dark souls lately. I usually make a sl120 pyro, yours looks good although i do believe poise is important for pyros. I wear a wolf ring and steel gauntlets on most of mine. heres my tweeks, you can try and use iron flesh to make up for poise, for when you cast fire tempest especially.

Re: I need some pyro basics
also using Chaos Greatfireball and running into the residual lava to cast Fire tempest is great, you basically have a defense around you so they rush to bs you and the lava burns them for high damage and sometimes even teh tempest gets off and they will have been instagibbed

Not trying to be a jerk, just an honest question: How is that a "pure pyromancer"?
Here is my latest pure PyRo build, (been winning a fair amount with it too).

I make such a scene with all the pyro, that many miss the wolf ring glow, and the Black Iron gloves are completely hidden by the Gold Hemmed, so many don't realize that I can tank anything less than an ultra greatsword and feed them a GC to the face....
....and manually aiming fireballs is so sweet.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess the Wolf Ring is the secret, so I may sacrifice Vit for at least 40 poise.

Got a Shield and a fast roller. Don't get hit exposed, and you'll be fine.

Re: I need some pyro basics
@lextune :we should have a pyro vs pyro battle. I prefer the steel gauntlets because they are lighter and dont reduce stamina regen(not that its noticeable). I only keep a weapon on me when i do randoms because sometimes people have a black knight shield or cast flash sweat and i gotta switch it up. You ever tryed doing a pure chaos pyro build? its hard when your forced to work with mainly fire whips. I love this build even though its not that viable, it is doable though. http://tinyurl.com/7dgfoc7

@ acidic_cook :Although i don't know how well it would work, your build inspired me to create a similar one. http://tinyurl.com/7az9a26 obviously stuff can be switched around. Idk how well i would do at low hp like that and low poise, it will be fun

Re: I need some pyro basics
My first main, my pyromancer caster only, had 50 attunement and a dusk ring, with just a Pyromancer Armour and a Raw + 5 Hand Axe. Fire Orbs, Great Fireball, Fire Combustion, Great Combustion, Fire Surge, Mists, Fireballs...
I made about four friends on my PSN account helping with Ornstein and Smough with my Pyromancer, which I stayed to do for about thirty or forty phantom times as such Pyromancer... lots of rolling and no vitality. I was very popular
I give the shield and the Favour and Protection for better chance of survival, but with no protection is also durable. Hell, i put most of my skill point sin endurance, attunement, and resistance.
Chance of Dying: High. Chance of Success: Low. Satisfactory: VERY HIGH. Humiliation: None.

Re: I need some pyro basics
for your spells i would suggest
great chaos fireball, great combustion, chaos storm, fire surge.
if u plan to level your character up more, i would get some more endurance and put on balder armor, havel gloves and balder legs. gets you to 53 poise and around 400 defense.
you may want to pick a weapon that does one damage type, like a chaos blade or uchi/iaito. bss is handy too.

Re: I need some pyro basics
I learn to spell cancel, but I don't know how to use it in battle. The build does fairly well against randoms, but in duels, it sucks because the pyros are too slow even with 45 Dex.

Wyrm... Learn to free aim or make use of residual lava etc - Invisible fire surge, you can use them in duels. Takes practice though. I hit most people with my Great Fireball now, even if they attempt to dodge it.

Re: I need some pyro basics
Practice makes perfect, I used to suck at pyromancy aiming - thats why I never incorporated it into my build - every CS I have done today has hit, same with Great Chaos Fireball, mind you I find it harder to aim with GC xD Sounds retarded I know :L

Re: I need some pyro basics
wyrm we should have a black firebomb match to help practice, i need to get better with my aiming myself. I have been trying to 100% MGS3 for the last week or so and was playing demon's souls for a few weeks before that, im getting rusty. I loved that all the people from the forum were able to just have a normal session last night, i think it went well. Cause no spells or backstabs really does make things boring, in my opinion. Its partly im just not used to fighting under the no bs or spell rule. I hope people didnt think my pyro builds were "spamming", i got my *** handed to me so it probably didnt matter.

Re: I need some pyro basics
I would love to, the build is fairly good. Has 1600 HP, I can BS or attack with the Furysword while the opponent is stunned from a fireball or combustion. I get staggered by anything, but I have managed to kill a good amount with it. The combustions do 500 damage aprox, and the firestorm around 900 damage to a mom + giants. I'm staying at SL 80, I just need more aiming practice with the fireballs and more dodging skills with fast roll (I have fap + bellowing). Poise isn't a real matter because the spells are fairly quick, although I really like throwing fireballs very close to the opponent, for a explosion to the face, but sometimes I get staggered. I have 2 choices, change fap for wolf or bellowing for wolf. And by the way fruit, we can spam anything we want in arena.
