Artorias Lives!

I don't know who else will believe this, but I am like 90% sure Artorias is still alive even in the current timeline (not DLC time). This is because 1) Ciaran's ring is on a corpse behind Artorias' "grave." I assume she was meant to assassinate Artorias after he defected, but failed either because she wasn't strong enough or for whatever other reason (love story gone bad?) and 2) the leo, hawk, and hornet rings state that they BELONGED to Ornstein, Gough, and Ciaran respectively, while the wolf ring says that it BELONGS to Artorias the Abysswalker, as in currently still and not yet taken from. Well, that's what I'm thinking. So I'm thinking that you time travel or something in the DLC and witness the events surrounding Artorias, but when you return to your timeline you have to find and kill him. Hopefully we get his armor cause it looks awesome...

The Belonged and Belongs are good points, and it's really odd how she was laid behind the grave...

If you are going to fight him, of course he is alive. He is exactly like Gwyn, hollow, wandering around doing nothing.

A belt buckle? So...the sun bros are shoe buckle thieves? That so explains why my shoes keep going into disrepair...

But yeah, I just used this belongs and belonged thing to support the idea that even thought you are going back in time in the dlc, Artorias will be fought in the current timeline as he is still alive and kickin. I personally don't think he is hollow though, mainly because he made a covenant with the abyss creatures including kaathe, which more than guarantees he has the power of lifedrain which kaathe had said will preserve your humanity as an undead. I think he is up to something weird...weird things...butt things...

Can't wait to fight him! The guy at the interview said Artorias is going to be huge and fast and the fight it self is going to be epic

He has a gimp arm doesnt he? Is that the same hand (right or left) as the creepy eyeballed one that takes you somewhere in the dlc?

But. He has a grave.

A grave doesn't necessarily mean death...hell according to video games and anime and books and movies and all that jazz an actual on screen death itself sometimes doesn't even mean a death.

You know what always bugged me? Why is the sword Artorias uses completely different from the one Sif uses?

Ya... it is odd, isn't it? Looking at Artorias' blade, it also is off as well, as Artorias' sword that he wields has less of a hilt...

The cursed version in game is just a different color, but his looks extremely battle damaged in all regards...I kind of want it.

Ya, I want a broadsword that is burned and rusted, or a Battleaxe that is chipped... would make the character have more 'colour' if such editations could be made. That, and crystallized weapons can be actually have crystals coming form them like the unupgrade able crystal items players can get.

That's what I sort of like about certain armor, like the Knight Set. There are scratches, and general flaws in the armor. Same for shields like the heater shield. But most weapons look to be utterly pristine.

Ya, it is kind of off, where the player is in a world where fighting is daily, and weapon worn out is certainly going to happen one way or another.

I personally look forward to using Artorias' armor because it looks so battle worn, especially the remnants of the blue cape around his shoulders.

Anybody else pissed that they took the plume off of Ornstein's armor?

Interesting note by the way, Oscar's/Elite Knight's set uses a blue coat, so maybe Artorias has some relation to Astora. A very minor thing, but just some crazy speculation like usual.

What is it with this game and blue?

Blue is a color of nobility, though what I'm more surprised by is the lack of purple. That's a sign of rulership and royalty. Though I guess Gwyn is based on a bit more of celtic views, based off his armor design. So there is a distinction between ancient and modern, as Gwyn is ancient, but most of the armor in game is more modern in comparison.

I don't believe in the 'Belonged' and 'Belongs' bullcrap, there are alot of spelling errors in some item descriptions. Anyway i believe that ciaran was in fact, in love with artorias, and that she wanted to die near his grave.

Wait a minute, if the theory about Ciaran "being sent to kill Artorias" is true, then how would she be laid to rest behind his grave? If he has a grave, he wouldn't need to be assassinated...

There's some discussion in linking lore but a few theories I think we mentioned:
A. Guilt leading to her visiting the grave after the murder
B. Sent to find hits legacy and killed by Did
C. She or a messenger bringing a final gift/symbol
D. Someone bringing evidence to implicate the murderer

Personally, I just like the idea of her being sent to kill a dead man...
