Welcome to the PowWhale Brawl: These are the rules and requirements my friends. Each match will be video recorded, please tell me ahead of time if you do not want your PSN to be viewable on youtube. The first place prize will receive the right of honor and two high level renderings of their character drawn by Josh and Zach, the founders of PowWhale. This tournament will be a single elimination, best of three bracket. Each player will fight another character in a best of three duel, the winner moves on to the next bout. You must use the exact same gear for the entire competition. Please go to http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/ and create the build you are going to use in the tournament and send the link to me with your registration. Only eight players total can participate so sign up quickly. This tournament will be held Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 7:00pm EST Philadelphia.

Soul Level Cap: 99.

Arena: (Welcome to the PowWhale’s belly, *****.) The bottom floor of the Undead Burg’s loft, just before first appearance of the Red Hellkite Dragon. I will be summoning each person through their red and white souls stones on the lofts upper level.

Banned Weapons: (No Damaging AoE weapons.) Dragon King Great axe, and Grant. Yes, you can use the Stone Great sword, Dragon Great sword, Dragon Slayer Spear, Moonlight Great sword, Drake Sword, and Golem Axe because they are either none damaging AoE attacks or skill shots.

Banned Pyromancies: (No Damaging Area-of-Effect powers.) Great Chaos Fireball, Firestorm, Fire Tempest, Chaos Storm, Chaos Fire Whip, Poison Mist, Toxic Mist, and Acid Surge. No! Bad! Go lay down!

Banned Miracles: (No Damaging Area-of-Effect powers… none, AoE is for Person-verse-Environment.) Wrath of the Gods, Emit Force, Gravelord Sword Dance, and Great Gravelord Sword Dance. Yes you can attempt to heal by casting a healing spell. Also, yes, you can use force and tranquil walk of peace because they are none damaging AoE powers.

Banned Sorceries: (Bring your wand.) None. There are no AoE sorceries and in close quarters they are tricky to cast, good luck.

Banned Items: (Come on, no healing items man.) Estus Flask, Fire Keeper Soul, Divine Blessing, and Humanity and Twin Humanities. Yes, you can use any grass at anytime.

Banned Rings: (No Ninja flipping; covers to much ground and instigates people to fish for back stabs, and it halves weight load making it to easy to stack poise. No Hornet ring; one shot back stabs are no fun.) Dark Wood Grain Ring, and Hornet Ring.

Banned Shields: (No 100% Physical Damage Reduction Shields. No Turtles. 100% is for Person-verse-Environment ladies.) Black Iron Great shield, Eagle Shield, Giant Shield, Great shield of Artorias, Havel’s Great shield, Stone Great shield, Tower Shield, Balder Shield, Black Knight Shield, Blood Shield, Caduceus Kite Shield, Crest Shield, Dragon Crest Shield, Heater Shield, Hollow Soldier Shield, Iron Round Shield, Knight Shield, Silver Knight Shield, Spider Shield, Sunlight Shield, Tower Kite Shield, and the Crystal Shield.

psn? honestly a lot of the rules i didnt like, but you won me over with no dwgr. I still say that this game is just not meant for super competitive tournament style gameplay.

I dislike the fact that I can't have my Spider shield I guess it will have to be either my beloved Wooden Shield or Dark Hand

Awesome! Send me an email guys and get working on our level 99's. I chose level 99 because i love diablo 2, so im keeping it old school with a 99 cap, plus i made many strong builds at 99 so its workable.

Yeah i know, spider shield is so cool, but... .

Yes grass crest shield is a strong pvp shield for sure but shields arent really required, after all you can parry with your off hand bare fist.

Its just my personal opinion, but some of the rules seem a bit off. You banned some of the pyro that is a hell of a lot harder to land then Great Combustion, but didnt ban that. You banned Grant and DKGA, but MLGS which is about 10x more powerful and easier to use is allowed. Also stone gs and twop are allowed along with backstabs? We can assume no one will abuse it that way, but guess how they will. Mage build with twop and mlgs, and the winner is?!?! think you need to tweak them a bit, idk just my point of view.

FPN, I can counter TWoP easily nuff.

lol i guess. try dodging soul spears if someone gets off a twop cast.

I was going to ban the family masks but some people like the way they look and i dont want to ruin anyones cosplay, plus i feel with all these other rules it makes the masks not as powerful... dulls them in a way. I just hate the DWGR, i want to find the jewel crafter who forged this ring and do a backflip my foot into his bunghole.

The first 8 emails i get will be the participants.

It just seems to me that these rules favor mage builds WAY too much. I say ban MLGS at the very least.

FPN - or not... Just 2h your weap and mash r1 seeing as their cat is in their OH or it can be handled easily enough. GMB - makes their CSS do about 100 dmg or so.

My only fear is that you may be setting up a tournament with a lot of builds that look like this...

those are some weird rules though(just read them i know), im pretty sure noone is gonna cast twop and bs people though. i can already see all the grass crest shields lol

Rules stand as is. I want there still to be room for the creative people who like to play dark souls and for the people who just want to use the best gear. Just trying to have fun.

Otherwise you are really limiting what people can work with. Once again sorry im not trying to be negative, these rules were just confusing.

Here's mine, still need a few tests and tweaks. I already signed in your website. By the way, is the arena the corridor past the undead merchant, that leads to a ladder, 4 hollows protecting it?
