    Hello.

    As my little service to the community I figured I'd share some screenshots and details about the new dark sorceries that can be found in the Oolacile Township. I usually play as a pure magic user, and I've had some success with these new tools.

    Notes
    1) Dark sorceries can be deflected by the Silver Pendant. The Silver pendant does not, however, affect soul sorceries.
    2) Dark sorceries deal physical damage, and not magical damage.
    3) I don't know if dexterity changes the casting speed for these new spells.
    4) My equipment for testing the damage is the Crown of Dusk, Logan's Catalyst and Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring with 50 Intelligence. It is possible to increase this damage by using a more powerful catalyst and other items.

    1. Dark Orb

    Casts: 12
    Int req.: 16
    Cast time: ~3 seconds
    Damage: Roughly 550 damage on a Oolacile citizen in NG+.
    Location: In a chest in the first part of the Oolacile Township.

    Spell notes
    1) The dark orb is slow to cast but it travels quickly. I believe it is slightly faster than a soul arrow or soul spear, but I can't say for sure. The orb is a lot bigger than an arrow or a spear, though, so it is possible to score glancing hits with the sides of the orb. Due to this it is also easier to freely aim a dark orb than it is with any of the smaller projectiles.

    2. Dark Bead

    Casts: 6
    Int req.: 16
    Cast time: ~1 second
    Damage: About 275 per individual bead on a Oolacile citizen in NG+.
    Location: On a corpse found early on in the Chasm of the Abyss.

    Spell notes
    1) Dark bead is quick to cast and covers a large area as it fans out from your position. It fires 7 beads which are all individually smaller than a dark orb.
    2) For this reason it is easy to freely aim this spell and hit with a single bead or two.
    3) It is very possible to hit with multiple beads on the same targets the closer you are to it. In this way it's possible to inflict a lot of damage with a single quick cast.

    3. Dark Fog

    Casts: 2
    Int req.; 18
    Cast time: ~3 seconds + 1 for the cloud to appear at the target location.
    Damage: Strength of poison varies on the target. It is poison and not toxic.
    Location: Found on a corpse hanging from a rope inside the large building in the Oolacile Township.

    Spell notes
    1) Dark fog works by summoning a cloud of poison at the location you're pointing at when you cast it. It does not fire any kind of projectile, the cloud will appear where it is targeted.
    2) It will stick to surfaces such as walls or ceilings if it is within the spell's maximum range. If you fire it out into the air, the cloud will appear at ground level. The second screenshot shows the spell's maximum range as it nearly reaches the bonfire in the Oolacile township.

    4. Pursuers

    Casts: 3 (requires 2 slots)
    Int req.: 32
    Cast time: ~3 seconds
    Damage: Inconclusive, but it appears to be high.
    Location: Trade Soul of Manus with Snuggly.

    Spell notes
    1) Pursuers is at first similar to the Homing Soulmass series, but it is quite different in how it works. Pursuers will actually pursue the target instead of flying past it.
    2) The projectiles move slower than the Soulmass series. It is quite possible for players to outrun the projectiles if they move in a straight line.
    3) In the second picture, the dog charged past me and set off the pursuers spell. I then circled 180 degrees around the dog, and the pursuers spell caught the dog at that time.
    4) In PvP, it will continue to follow rolling players. I don't know how long it will continue to pursue a target, but I haven't seen it disappear yet in PvP. It is more likely that it'll be evaded by blocking it or leading it into obstacles.
    5) Casting any of the Soulmass spells will cancel this spell, and vice versa. They can't both be out at the same time.

    I've added a third, animated image to Pursuers. It's low quality, but I think it'll show the tracking capabilities of the spell. I was quite disappointed at first as I thought it was just a physical version of Soulmass, but this spell really is different. happy

    It's still at base, which is 11. I've only put points into Int and Att, the rest is still base.

    Heh, and I was about to ditch my Int44 build due to the SL99 PvP cap (not enough points for int+dex+decent vit). Maybe I should keep him around.

    I absolutely love this new school of magic , it'll finally allow for proper necromancers and dark magicians, unfortunately the blue coloured magic never suited any of my builds colour or theme wise.

    Thank you for the video links, Ziko.

    I believe that these new spells will spice things up a lot for sorcerers, indeed. I don't think that they'll completely replace the soul sorceries even in PvP, but they are a very good complement. For instance, the Silver Pendant would put a halt to most dark sorcery casts, but if you can anticipate it you might be able to slap them across the face with a CSS or similar. happy

    Dark Sorceries are not going to work so well on arena, i think everyone will join with a silver pendant, but for invading :face: my black sorcerer build is already planned! i'm going to start working on it tonight bounce

    yeah i love dark bead and pursuers! But dark orb casts so slow.. :/ damn so its only viable with 45 dex i think.

    I'll have to wait untill the prepare to die edition launches for consoles in Europe.

    How does the Silver Pendant work exactly ? Does it entirely prevent the opponent from casting dark magic , or is the damage completely nullified ? For how long does the effect last , and how many times can it be used ?

    EDIT : I found a vid displaying it's use , wow :suspect:

    Yeah, if they know that a dark spell is coming it's pretty easy to void it with the pendant.

    I'll be waiting to see how much of a difference it'll make for the dark sorceries before I'm willing to invest all of those stat points into dexterity.

    Normally a pure caster dont need 45 dex. Every spell is pretty fast. But as a pyromancer, you´ll need 45 dex, for an instant gc faster fireball.

    Pyromancers have the luxury of not needing a whole bunch of intelligence to place their points into, so they're free to indulge in dexterity.

    And yeah, Dark Bead is an excellent shoot-em-in-the-face spell. I like to tease my invadees with my shield to get a feel for their reach before I bead 'em in the face when they whiff. *Splorf!* twisted

    only xbox i put over 100 hours into pvp on my mage and was always my favorite

    ive been using persuers / dark bead since the moment i got them and they are epic in pvp

    persuers can and will turn to catch people who dodge roll away; so which you can blast them with a CSS when they dodge, or when they block youre already halfway through a CSS cast and theyll still eat 800-900 damage through block and lose a big chunk of heir stamina too.

    my persuers with 50 int do on average 200-250 each on direct hits to lvl 90-100 people.

    then for dark bead... after they eat a persuer + CSS combo can just spam 6 dark beads as theyre rolling around and youre guaranteed to hit them


    if theres anything i missed or any questions just lemme know.


    edit: the poison mist sucks, does no damage and low casts
    the dark orb thing is just a heavy soul arrow variant which are pretty bad in pvp



    edit2: lol at that youtube video of the mage head. i got it off the first mage when i started to farm. now the regular bloated head took me over an hour...

    the mage bloated catalyst is just a wapred version of the regualr oolacile catalyst as far as i can tell, same name and stats... just different look.

    stuff is hilarious because nobody knows what to do vs it. just dodge roll into a CSS then the persuers catch up and he gets nailed for like 1500+ (most just die so i dont get to see max damage).
