    Here is a 35 minute video from GT, where they talk about playing the demo. They talk about Mirror Knight, Criticals, spells, shield catalyst and more. It's very interesting, but some new footage would be more useful.

    @freesergey, this is a good find. If u noticed, the videos of the different builds are of gameplay only, and so is the sound. U can hear everything without having to discern thru the interview.

    In depth look at magic (light/strong/charging/two handed), some new items (Amber/Twilight herbs (magic charges)) and the new feel (or rather weight) of DaS2 combat mechanics.

    It's not much, but I'm sure magic users will be pretty happy with this write up.

    I have also heard (not mentioned in the article) that you can use some items and continue moving, i.e. herbs. IIRC Estus Flasks were excluded from this.

    And another users experience at the SDCC. Although he was playing with a shoddy controller.

    I'm starting to think the game will take place in Zena or Carim. I personally favor Zena because some things seem almost mechanical. Like on the way to the Mirror Knight, the statues come to life like they were machines. Balder seems like a brutish land based on the basic war strategy of "attack". Carim seems like a passive land that's focused on helping it's people. And if Astora mimics real life in some way, it would be safe to assume there was a Dark Ages where science and industry were halted. Zena seems like the land where science and mechanical things are the highest priority. Nothing is known of Zena, and we haven't seen most of the things before that we have from the Dark Souls II previews, so personally I believe Zena is a major candidate for the area Dark Souls II takes place in.

    It is planned to be for the same category weapons. For example, the dual wielding is not possible between a spear and an axe; however, it is possible between the same categories such as spears, axes, great-swords.
    Ah, that's slightly disappointing. I was hoping to make a few awesome combinations. That decision makes sense though.

    A major drawback of Fire/Lightning/Magic weapons is that their stats don’t scale, making them relatively useless in NewGame+... Is there a plan to alter this approach for Dark Souls II?

    Answer
    It is not easy to tell the detailed information at the moment. However, the weapons reinforcement has more freedom compared to the last title and the Fire/Lightning/Magic weapons can be fortified enough.
    Does this mean that there will be more than 10 different ascension types?
    I like how elemental ascensions will now be more relevant at higher levels or late game.

    I think it may be Astora, because the kingdom got assaulted by some dark beast named Evil Eye. That would make the story telling and setting a lot easier to make for devs. Also, the knight in trailers marks some resemblances to the Elite Knight set. Although the fur above his shoulders would suggest some cold enviroment, so perhaps some northern country. What do we know, maybe he's an escaped prisoner from Ariamis. big grin

    Well, in the end, they can just create something completely new from scratch. That's also a very safe and easy way to go about the matter.

    What the hell, whoever came up with this idea that they are useless hasn't got a clue of the function of these paths.  They are weapon upgrades for people who have base stats.  Fire and Lighting are not useless in NG+ and you want those paths to be lower damage than physical due to the stat investment required for them to be viable.  Whoever came up with this question really should go and do low level runs or at least watch people do NG+8 SL1 runs and then see how stupid their question was.  As for magic, that was pure bull saying that they don't scale, I'm getting the impression they haven't studied DkS properlly.  Hopefully Tanimura San and team stick to their guns because they have a better idea what needs polishing.
