Hey guys,
I’ve been checking the
forum for quite a while now and I’m more than hyped for the ‘prepare to die’-
Edition.
That’s why my first
post will be some speculation about what I expect from the add on.
SPOILER ALERT
I’ve been watching
both the gamespot and gamesradar videos where one of the Bandai/Namco guys
explains a bit while playing pretty poorly as well as the new Gamescom-trailer.
From the various sources, I had some ideas in mind, that I wanted to share and discuss, since I
believe this forum is the best place to do so and the people around here know
their stuff.
First of all, I noted that all of the time he is playing there is one ‘buff’-symbol under the
stamina-bar. I’m pretty sure that this is the boot-symbol for the Artorias-Ring
that lets you traverse the abyss.
I believe that – just like you have to wear it for the Four Kings fight – you will have to wear the ring to access the new content in the Darkroot Basin and for the Demonic Hand [that
is believed to belong to the Darklurker (The 3rd mandatory new Boss?)]
to drag you into the Abyss and/or the new content.
To my mind it would be very clever if you were in the abyss the whole time and that time-travel thing is more like an ‘image’ that the abyss shows you. Furthermore it would be very
smart to let us wear the Artorias-Ring the whole time so that we are forced to
only use one buff-ring. This would make the already seemingly difficult new content
a lot harder (Which is basically what we all want, isn’t it?).
The other thing that I spotted was the magic that some of the new enemies will use. It really seems like they shoot Humanities at the player and that they use the Beatrice’s-catalyst
for that. In one of the pictures that were posted (by Baal, I believe) the
contrast of the image was raised and by that we could get a better look at the
Darklurker-demon. I think that he holds such catalyst in his right hand (the
one that doesn’t drag you in the darkness). If that was true, he could be
something like the humanity-keeper, if you will, that reigns over all the lost
humans. In that regard, it is quite possible that the abyss is the place where
all of the lost humans (Humanity) are sent to after they have turned hollow or
undead (Which is basically backed up by the picture with the humanity sprites
that are hovering in the darkness).
In one of the videos (I believe it was the new trailer) it is also mentioned that Oolacile has
brought the Abyss upon itself. This probably means that Beatrice or somebody
else tried to create some kind of dark magic by using humanity or sacrificing
humans.
There are also some things
that I am really unsure of.
It seems like in the
Artorias Boss fight, he has a VERY similar moveset as Sif the great grey wolf.
And if you watch the new youtube-video by EpicNameBro, there is a link to an
image that shows Sif, surrounded by some humanity sprites in some kind of rite.
Does that mean that Artorias gets turned into Sif or is reborn as Sif?
Oh and in the gamesradar-video the narrator receives the soul of Artorias… What the heck is
that used for? We can already get both swords and the shield? Cursed
Greatshield of Artorias maybe?
He also says that you
have to find the armor-set of Artorias. I personally believe that you will find
it in the lair of the Darklurker…
Tell me what you think
about all of this guys. I love to speculate and discuss.
I really think Dark Souls is a masterpiece for that.
